On July 27, T-Mobile experienced a significant nationwide outage that left many customers unable to use cellular service. More than 60,000 outage reports were recorded, users across multiple states reported dropped service and "SOS" mode on phones, and T-Mobile had not yet identified a public cause when Reuters published its report.
Scientists aren't worried only about oil shipments or trade disruptions. They warn that thousands of ships stranded near the Strait of Hormuz could unintentionally carry marine organisms around the world when normal traffic resumes, potentially triggering one of the largest invasive-species spread events ever documented.
