A federal appeals court ruling has highlighted a growing legal challenge: U.S. laws governing illegal exploitative images were largely written before modern AI could generate highly realistic synthetic images. The judge said existing Supreme Court precedents may no longer fit the technological reality created by generative AI and suggested the Supreme Court should revisit those decisions.
