KMJ Saturdays

John talks with Chief Deputy District Attorney Kendall Reynolds from the Fresno County District Attorney's Office. Reynolds help spearhead the first successful murder prosecution for a fentanyl dealer in Fresno County history, only the third such prosecution in all of California. John also gives a rundown on the governor's race and the broader 2026 election.

Mike & Dave are back dining on some San Francisco treats and sipping on a La Gioiosa Prosecco.  The guys discuss the closure of the Starbucks at Fig Garden Village and the suddenly popular Rumi Coffee & Mediterranean Cafe.  Also: #Chanel #ArmenianFood #TahoeJoes #GreenBeans #ElNino #MotherNature #Nachos #CafeMedi #Hippies #GrandTheftAuto #YosemiteRanch  Shoutout to Synthia! Why are liberals so obsessed with solar power, even though the materials needed for electric car batteries and solar panels can't be recycled? Also John answers a tricky question: Can you be kinda pregnant? Apparently, liberals think so!

John gives his assessment of the 2026 elections both for California and nationally: it's not looking so hot. John also explains why the SAVE America Act might cost Republicans the Senate.

Mike & Dave dine on dry aged beef meatballs served with a delicious Caldwall Cab Franc.  Mike describes himself as a "greedy little drinker" while Dave advises to "buy the dip" when it comes to wine. #Coombsville #Wine #Cabernet #Napa #RuddWines #CaldwellWines #ElbowRoom #Meatballs #TahoeJoes #BTeam #Chanel #Beef

JG looks at the latest round of AI panic, what's actually behind it, and why Gavin Newsom is trying to get into the discussion (to help him run for president, of course). Also, why is a washed-up white rapper getting the country agitated over Israel and Palestine?

Fall is in the air... almost. As September ends, new changes are happening and on the horizon. This week we learned of a local theater's sudden closure, Skynet may be real and the tech giants are warning us, and of course, Odd News.  Tune in every Saturday at 11am on KMJNOW.com. John discusses the explosion of illegal Chinese marijuana farms in California. Legalization did not, as predicted, eliminate the black market for weed—shockingly, potheads still like to buy marijuana on the cheap from untaxed sources. Now, those sources are linked to the Chinese Communist Party! Also, Greta Gerwig is making a movie with Jesus as a girl (basically).

Mike & Dave dine on crisp fish & chips served with a Patricia Green Sauv Blanc.  Dave has just returned from a big family outing in Portland, Oregon.  Escargot from Hanford?? #Portland #Portlandia #Oregon #KMJ #Pismos #Fish&Chips #ElbowRoom #AlaskaAirlines #Tattoos #Moosewood #CottageCheese #Fritatta #TotalWine https://www.fresnosmissingconnection.com/

John talks about several disastrous stories of Medi-Cal fraud, and explains the systemic problems with the program. John is then joined by Bryan Tellalian, a Political Science instructor at Reedley College and the chair of Reedley College's Constitution Week! They preview the Constitution Week festivities and upcoming talks.

Want to learn more about the 14(!) different statewide ballot initiatives on the ballot this November? John goes through every one, giving his thoughts and recommendations. In short: California needs less spending, not more taxes; bond measures are loans to the state that we have to pay back with interest, and are clunky, inefficient ways to fund government programs; and we can only make housing more affordable by increasing supply, not by constantly subsidizing the demand. Check it out!

The population of the United States is declining, and it's having bigtime knock-off effects on American K-12 education, college education, and more. The growth of AI is eating up entry-level jobs. John discusses how these changes should change our ways of thinking about education in California.

Goodbye Dolly. This week we lost a few icons and Joe and Lisa discuss memorable moments for Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. Fresno Unified can't afford to pay for field trips? The FTA is blasting the district for cutting field trips, but they need to look in the mirror: Fresno Unified faces a fiscal cliff driven by lower enrollment and more teachers than the district had 20 years ago. Maybe, a union that seeks ever-increasing positions and pay bears some responsibility for that problem!

Lindsay Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. She does not dispute killing them but says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

How will SEDA impact Fresno's growth?  Fresno Unified complains about the plan.  Xavier Becerra is surly, not bright and bad at interviews.

Xavier Becerra continues to try to subsidize demand instead of increasing supply to reduce costs: this time, by trying to offer people “free” electricity. John also digs into a disturbing story about how sports gambling has surpassed all American spending on movies, music, and books combined.

John goes through Fresno County report on the Better Roads Safe Streets initiative, and the environmentalist wacko mindset that underlies it.

John lays out the arguments for and against Dr. Fauci getting prosecuted for contempt of Congress, and what's ultimately gonna (not) happen to him.

John argues that the voters should NOT decide what happens with Better Roads Safe Streets. Direct democracy for complex questions (like 30 year road taxes) is a bad idea.

It's August and that means back to school and NFL! John digs into Anthony Fauci's testimony before Congress—does he actually have the right to invoke the Fifth Amendment even though Joe Biden pardoned him? We also take a close look at Nelson Esparza's proposal to limit funding for the South East Development Area of Fresno, and Jerry Dyer's legacy as mayor.

John talks about CA Attorney General Rob Bonta's tinkering with the title and description of Proposition 39, the initiative requiring stronger citizenship verification for voting. It isn't just sneaky politics: it undercuts the whole structure of California's ballot initiative system. He digs into the history of the ballot initiative system, which was designed to help the people bypass entrenched elected officials—like Rob Bonta! Check it out.

Dave Fansler is joined by Nick Marziliano of the famed Sam's Italian Deli.  The guys dine on stuffed chicken served with a couple of knock-out pino noirs from Sonoma County.  Dave regales the audience with tales from his family vacation in Montecito. Did you know that the largest school district in the state, which "educates" almost 9% of all public school kids in California, is about to go out of business? John tackles the demise of Los Angeles Unified School District, and also asks questions about the City of Fresno's Measure C replacement: Will the money be used for roads? Will it use the Better Roads Safe Streets methodology of expanding bike and bus lanes, without expanding road capacity? Check it out!

Brandon Gill from Texas thrashed the Smithsonian Director in Congressional hearings this week, and John wonders whether it's even possible to have politically neutral civic institutions any more. Also, is Laura Loomer magically not crazy anymore (JG doubts it). Check it out!

Dave's not here, man.  So... Mike welcomes recently elected Fresno Superior Court Judge Marc Kapetan to the show.  The guys dine on halibut served withe a fabulous 2023 Double Diamond sauv blanc while discussing proper Greek cuisine. #Greek #Mediterannian #ElbowRoom #Fresno #LyleAlzado #TonysTaverna #LosGatos #DioDeka #Mousskata #Julias #ThreeRivers #wine #California #KMJ #podcast #MikeShirinian #MarcKapetan https://tonystaverna3r.com/

Why are conservatives so upset with Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett? John puts his lawyer hat on and says she's not as bad as you may think.  Fresno Unified is under the microscope after two students die on campus.

John discusses President Trump's speech on Chinese interference in the 2020 election, and the problems with intelligence officials keeping information from the leader of the free world.

On today's John Gerardi Show, John discusses the concept of "believe all women" by comparing the allegations against Graham Platner to those against Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. The creepy way that the media coordinated the exits of both Platner and Eric Swallwell (as soon as they became a political liability) make John worry about their ongoing power to manipulate politics as Democrat partisans. Finally, he digs into the horrific stories about student deaths within Fresno Unified School District.

Mike & Dave are back with a deep dive into California wines (Napa vs. Paso). The guys dine on monster jumbo stuffed prawns, served with a chilled '22 Accendo Sauv. John takes a deep dive into the competing billionaire tax proposals.  The union-backed California proposal will be on the November ballot, which Newsom opposes. So, as a counter-measure Newsom decided to take his billionaire tax plan to the nation.

John breaks down the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran: It makes the best of a bad situation where America has lost most of its leverage. He also discusses how LGBT advocates do not really care for “inclusion” as as much as as they claim.
