Protests erupted after a Department of Homeland Security law enforcement officer shot a person in Minneapolis during a traffic stop Wednesday, escalating tensions in the city.  

The president's warning comes after a second ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis in recent days. The Insurrection Act, an 1807 law, has not been invoked since the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The order allows the president to deploy the military to suppress rebellions and enforce federal laws.

President Donald Trump said he’d agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday, less than two hours before his 8 p.m. deadline to destroy a “whole civilization.” 

President Donald Trump has set an 8 p.m. ET deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or else the U.S. will begin targeting the nation's power plants and bridges Tuesday. Iran has rejected proposals put forward by the U.S., and Trump in turn shut down a 10-point plan from Tehran on Monday, saying it was "not good enough."

The debate has sparked strong reactions, with supporters calling it an erasure of civil‑rights history and critics questioning Chávez’s legacy and whether schools should honor controversial figures. 

The district launched its audit on retirees’ dependents amid a network dispute that temporarily disrupted health care services for thousands of retirees and their dependents. Retirees last month filed a class-action lawsuit against the district over healthcare plan changes in 2023 they say diluted their benefits.
