Mendota’s Mayor Reacts To Measure C Ending 

Philip revisits comments made by Mendota’s Mayor Victor Martinez on KMJ’s Sunday Conversation with Alexan Balakian on the sunsetting of Measure C. The mayor criticize the decision and the ambitions of the board. Fresno County's long-running Measure C transportation tax expires in 2027. Supporters are promoting a replacement called Better Roads, Safe Streets that would continue the existing half-cent sales tax while directing more money toward neighborhood roads, sidewalks, and local infrastructure. Backers argue it's essential to address billions of dollars in deferred maintenance across Fresno County.

Federal authorities allege that Missouri House candidate Thomas Christopher Ross orchestrated a scheme to frame his Republican primary rival by planting cocaine and Adderall in her belongings and then reporting her to police. The plot allegedly unraveled when his own campaign manager went to law enforcement instead of carrying it out. Ross now faces a federal criminal charge as calls grow for him to leave the race. 

The Hollywood Reporter article examines the aftermath of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's highly public mental health crisis in August 2026, when he livestreamed apparent self-harm on TikTok, was hospitalized, and sparked a broader debate about online culture, public shaming, and the responsibilities of social media platforms.
