GV Wire reports that Assemblymember Alexandra Macedo is asking California's top election and law-enforcement officials to intervene in Avenal after four councilmembers who were overwhelmingly recalled by voters have refused to leave office. Despite certified election results and an appellate court ruling upholding the recall, the officials remain on the council, prompting Macedo to argue that state action is needed to protect the integrity of the electoral process. 

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is facing growing criticism from prominent MAGA activists, media personalities, and immigration hard-liners who say he has become too moderate on immigration policy. The backlash has sparked calls for President Trump to replace him just four months after he took over the Department of Homeland Security.
