Keeping the Brain Younger, Nicotine Pouches & Shooting Someone

View descriptionShare

A 12-year study of over 1,600 adults found that those who closely followed the MIND diet—rich in leafy greens, berries, fish, and olive oil, while limiting fried foods and red meat—had brains that appeared roughly 2.5 years younger on MRI scans.

A new University of Michigan‑led survey finds that about 19 million Americans (7%) have seriously thought about shooting someone, including 8.7 million within the past year, though most do not act on these thoughts. While firearm ownership wasn’t tied to these thoughts, respondents who considered shooting someone were more likely to either bring a gun to a location or plan to acquire one—highlighting critical intervention opportunities.

Nicotine pouches — like Zyn — have exploded in popularity, but instead of ending up in trash bins, they’re turning up as litter everywhere from urinals to sidewalks, rivaling cigarette butts as a sanitation nuisance.
