Flock Cameras Pose a Crash Risk for Drivers

El Cerrito police say all Flock Safety license plate-reader cameras in the city are being removed after the City Council chose not to renew its contract with the company, largely due to privacy concerns. The removal process is expected to be completed by August 18, 2026. 

Flock Safety's automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras, already controversial because of privacy concerns, are now facing criticism from roadway safety advocates who say some installations may create hazards for motorists

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the man discovered dead on the roof of a building on the Fresno High campus on Friday as 30-year Daniel Ramirez. A Fresno Unified worker discovered a body on the roof. 

Fresno Unified School District, California's third-largest school district, is facing a significant enrollment decline that officials say is creating serious financial and operational challenges. New projections show the district expects to lose 1,199 students during the 2026-27 school year, an increase from the 1,044 students lost the previous year.
