The six backcountry skiers rescued after being caught in a Donner Pass avalanche are now safely off the mountain, Nevada County Sheriff's office confirmed. Sheriff's officials added two of them are being treated at a hospital. First responders originally said 16 people were on the trip, but now say only 15 were there. The Sheriff's Office says nine people are missing as of Tuesday night.
