Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula was scheduled to speak at a Sacramento press conference on expanding Medi‑Cal for undocumented immigrants — but bailed minutes before it began, just days after news broke that he spent a month in rehab for alcohol and marijuana addiction.
Republican Christine Bish is switching races, announcing she will now run for California’s 3rd Congressional District after Rep. Kevin Kiley decided to leave the GOP and seek reelection in the newly redrawn District 6 instead. Bish said Kiley’s move “changed the dynamics” and left District 3 without a strong Republican contender—even as Democrats hold an 8‑point voter edge there. She will once again face Democrat Ami Bera, who is also jumping districts after redistricting.
