Hey Lochlan, make sure that you grab your buckets and shovels and uh that one net over there, Okay, said one of his parents. Oh, I already got it all in it's bag. Look, Lachlan had been preparing for this beach day for a long time. They loved going to the beach, making sand castles, collecting shells, and maybe even jumping over a wave or two. What are your favorite things to do at the beach. There's so many different things to do at the beach. I can't even like come up with my favorite, because I think I like them all.

Lachlan put on his sandals and followed his family into the car, and off they drove to the beach. While they were driving, Lochlan was working on a plan inside of his mind. He wanted to come up with the best plan for how he was gonna spend his time at the beach, and he was thinking through the perfect day. All right. First, I think I want to dig a hole in the sand, in a trench that goes all the way to the water. Then build a castle around it with a city, and yes, then find shells, because I have to decorate all the sand castles with shells. Yes, Today's gonna be the best day, said Lachlan. He had put together a pretty fun plan between building sand castles, finding shells and building that trench all the way to the water. This was gonna be the best day ever? Or was it? Little did he know that today's beach day would actually turn into a spy adventure. They parked the car and got out and Lachlan helped carry all the things to the beach. Here's a lot of things that you might need to bring to the beach. What are some things besides toys that you might want to bring with you? Maybe some chairs or an umbrella to make shade, and oh definitely food and some water to drink. Oh, these things are so heavy. Lachlan was working really hard to carry all this stuff with his family over to a really good spot. They looked around at the beach to find a good place to you know, set up their spot of laying down a blanket and the chairs and the umbrella and a great place for him to also work on his awesome plans over there. Let's go over there, said Lachlan. It was next to some large rocks, which was gonna be cool because that might mean that there are some tidepools over there for him to explore as well. He helped his family set up everything, and then he asked if he could go check out the tidepools over there. His parents said that was okay, just to not go too far. As Lachlan walked over to the closest tidepool, he looked inside.

Wow, this is like the coolest tidepool ever. Have you ever looked inside of a tidepool that had some creatures inside of it? Yeah, it could be a really cool place. It's like a whole nother world in there, a world that looks very different from the one that you and I live in.

There might not be any trees in there, but there's there's seaweed, yeah, and kelp and other kind of ocean plants, abing enemies and fish and crabs. There's so many cool things that you can find inside of a tidepool. After he jumped down from the rocks, he ran back to grabish shovel start digging his hole and building the most amazing sen castle city the world has ever seen. As he was running back to where his family was, he saw some splashing in the water, splashing that looked very unusual. And then a big beef of water that came shooting out of the ocean. What in the world, and it's a giant whale that is so aweso. Oh no, oh no, he's coming towards the beach, shouted Lochlan. He was right. The whale looked like it was swimming very fast and towards the beach. Oh no, he's gonna crash. Lachlan started running and running as fast as he could towards where his family was because the whale was headed right towards our blanket. Look out, everybody, shouted Lachlan. There's a giant whale coming. Everybody look out, And just in the nicked time, his whole family moved out of the way and there crashed the whale. As the water and sand came down to a rest, they all brushed the water and sand off of their faces. There was like an explosion of water and sand from that whale crashing onto the beach. Oh what in the world are you doing here? Whale, said Lachlan. Do you know how to speak whale? Yeah, it could be really hard to understand, but maybe let's try and list and again, is really sneaky. Did he just say the water is really stinky? Said Lochlann to his family. I think so, that's that's what I heard, said his parents. Oh no, whenever they're stinky, that is That is not a good sign, said Lachlan. And then it started to get even worse and worse. One by one, critters from the ocean started flying out of the water and onto the sand. It's like they couldn't get out of the water fast enough from dolphins, octopus, fish and crabs. No, but he wanted to be in that water. Oh it is stinky, said Lochlan as he finally caught up the breeze in the smell of the ocean. I've never smelled this before. This is awful. His whole family didn't know what to do with all these creatures from the ocean coming out looking pretty sick. They didn't know what in the world to do. And what in the world was going on? Was the water polluted by something really stinky? How in the world are they gonna get all these ginormous creatures back into the water, and how are they gonna clean the water from its very stinky smell. I don't know what in the world is gonna happen, but I think Lachlan is gonna have to grab a spy gear out of the car and get to work. We'll have to wait and see what happens on the next episode of Kids Short Stories. Great job, you listened all the way to the end and you know what time it is. It's time for kid shout out.
