Local Stellenbosch producer, Synth Peter, and his mates Katinka, Loufi, What The Faf and Wortel Kombat have set an all-new South African record on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie, as their viral sensation, ‘Doef Doef’, became the highest debuting South African song ever on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.
On Saturday, 25 July 2020 ‘Doef Doef’ debuted on the multiple award-winning chart show at no.11, breaking a record set two weeks previously by Craig Lucas, when ‘Happy’ debuted on the Kfm Top 40 at no.13 on 11 July 2020.
Carl decided to surprise Synth Peter and called him up under the pretense that he was going to be bubbling the track under on the chart and wanted Synth to help rally Kfm 94.5 listeners to show some love for the song. Little did Synth Peter know that his lockdown liedjie had made it onto the South African Radio Awards’ Best Music Show and Best Weekend Show for 2020.
