ORT SA CAPE has offered a course for Early childhood development (ECD) practitioners at Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) since 2015. Nine cohorts of students have registered for the course, totalling over 300 students. In 2018, ORT was accredited as an ECD training provider through the Education and Training Development Practitioner Sector Education Training Authority (ETDP SETA). The course is structured as an 18-month learnership which combines part-time tuition with practical work in a registered ECD centre or pre-primary school.
Carl Wastie spoke to Bev Da Costa about the work they do at ORT SA CAPE to chat about the work they do and the challenges they face.
In the background, Jacky from The Dischem Foundation was listening to the conversation and on behalf of the Dis-Chem Foundation made a donation of R120 000 to ORT SA CAPE.
