This week, BuzzFeed announced the sale of Complex. The next day, Vice Media announced layoffs for over 900 employees.
These are just the latest casualties in the slow, painful death of digital media. Over the past year, almost every major news publisher, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Vox Media and The Los Angeles Times, has made cuts to its operations.
