The extraordinary recount in the race for Congressional District 16 is dragging into its third week. It's costing Alex Padilla's group $12,000 a day as Santa Clara County sorts through the ballots.

Assemblymember Evan Low and Supervisor Joe Simitian each finished 30,249 votes behind San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, but the race for second is a toss-up. As of last night, Low had a one-vote lead on Simitian.
