In the face of increased book bans and pared-down Black history in some schools, groups outside of the school system are mobilizing to fill in the gaps.

Churches and community groups in Florida have been meeting in homes and at parks to read and learn banned curriculum after the state's controversial decision to reject AP African American Studies, a move being seen in widespread communities that are facing these kinds of restrictions.
