Joey bragged on his son for earning a school award after publicly thanking his teacher for helping students become better writers.

Bad Wolves guitarist Doc Coyle quit the band over the release of a Dolly Parton-approved version of “Jolene.” Luke Bryan also fired back at online critics who mocked his songwriting. 

Nancy talked about getting a second chance at barrel racing in the Casa Rodeo after taking heat from “mean horse girls” online last year. She shared some of the brutal comments she received and promised she’s been training for this year’s event.

Joey and Nancy kicked off the Friday before Tennessee football season with plenty of Vols talk, including visits from Mike Keith and Brian Rice, plus chances to win Tennessee football tickets, Tucker Wetmore tickets, and rodeo passes. 

Nancy shared the latest update on her massive raised-bed garden project, which already includes $600 worth of garden beds, 7,000 pounds of rock, and plans for tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, corn, beans, zucchini, and okra. Joey joked she’s building her own mini Biltmore. 

A young listener named Ryker won Tucker Wetmore tickets after being the first caller to hear the “Tuck, Tuck, Goose” sound effect. 

Nancy vented about a funeral she recently attended after a man who never met her uncle delivered a 45-minute eulogy full of incorrect details. That led to Nancy outlining her own funeral wishes, including bright pink clothing, a short service, cremation mixed with pink glitter, and speeches only from people who actually knew her. 

The show welcomed Yoshi from Tokyo, Japan, owner of the Good Ol’ Tennessee Bar and president of the Tokyo UT Alumni chapter. Yoshi traveled to Knoxville for the Furman game and fulfilled a lifelong broadcasting dream by helping host Lucky 7. 

Hot Tea: More than 20 farms across North America created Dolly Parton-themed corn mazes celebrating the Imagination Library. Alan Jackson’s final Nashville concert reportedly became the highest-grossing single concert ever with more than $30 million in revenue. A DoorDash driver in Houston was fired after allegedly delivering food completely naked. 

Rocky Top Roulette gave away Tennessee football tickets by having callers eliminate one another until Lacey was the last fan standing and won tickets to the Vols’ opener against Furman.

Joey was shocked when his Paxlovid prescription showed a price of $1,850 before insurance dropped it to $0, which sparked a conversation about the wild cost of prescription medications. Joey shared an epiphany after visiting the new Kenjo on Northshore. He decided almost anything feels better when it's brand new, whether it's a gas station, hotel, or restaurant.

Joey's son asked what a redneck is after hearing Jeff Foxworthy. Joey eventually used Karly's dad as the perfect example, which Nancy agreed was pretty accurate. 

Hot Tea: A fan was upset after Tim McGraw's team reposted her video without credit, Tiger Woods can still drive a golf cart despite a driving ban, and Pabst Blue Ribbon is offering a reward after two truckloads of beer were stolen. 

Nancy almost put her foot in her mouth while buying 22 railroad ties. She assumed a store manager was about to question her equipment, but he was actually trying to warn her the ties were in bad shape. Listeners shared things customers do that drive them crazy, including people calling to schedule appointments without checking their calendars, blaming hotels for bad weather, and asking UPS drivers what's inside their packages.
