INSPIRATION/INFORMATION with Host Imran Mirza Episode 9 Guest UK Label Boss SIMON S of FUTURISTICA MUSIC
Episode 9 of INSPIRATION/INFORMATION finds Host Imran Mirza of BlueInGreen Radio in conversation with SIMON S, aka Simon Skolfield, who this year celebrates TWENTY YEARS of his independent and future soul label, FUTURISTICA MUSIC. Starting their journey with 'Strangers to the Ordinary' by Low Budget Soul in 2006, the years since have seen some phenomenal music unveiled by Deborah Jordan, Sun Circle, Marc Rapson, Electric Conversation, Georgie Sweet, Jazz Chronicles and many more. The label's monumental milestone is beautifully capped off with a vinyl release featuring just some of the treasures Futuristica have released over the years. As well as discussing the music scene's changing landscape in that time, we also discuss Simon's latest venture as an independent record store owner in Cornwall, UK. Through the incredible Crates is High, Simon has once again cultivated a musical community born of his unwavering devotion to music which brings us to today's conversation...
In line with our typical three-question format, to unpack Simon's own musical fandom, we ask about the first album he ever purchased, who would be a dream artist for Futuristica to have released music with, and we ask which decade gave us the best music.
