Blog---October 2, 2024---9-10---It’s YOUR Business—Working on Wellness
Our Wednesday 9-10---is life threatening important---that is why we call it a Working on Wellness Wednesday.
Good topics in the show---including Dr. Dan Todd---Physician/surgeon for Midwest Ear Nose and Throat---opening a clinic in Southwest Sioux Falls offering Hyperbariac oxygen therapy to the whole community. Simple it is called Midwest Hyperbariacs.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treats wounds and other medical conditions by supplying you with 100% oxygen inside a special chamber. It heals damaged tissue by helping your body grow new skin, blood vessels and connective tissues.
How long to you stay in the Chamber? Treatment plans vary according to individual diagnosis. Each hyperbaric oxygen therapy session is typically two hours long.
We will keep a close eye on this one that opens later this month.
WE then talked with Sanford about their Medicare Part D, a Medicare Advantage plan from Align powered by Sanford Health Plan and it may be the most affordable option for beneficiaries looking for prescription drug coverage.
The maximum out-of-pocket expense for prescription drugs is $2000—however, with $0 copays and deductibles waived for certain commonly used prescriptions with Align powered by Sanford Health Plan. They have refined their Medicare Advantage plan in response to member feedback received over the past 3 years and as part of the ongoing focus on keeping people healthy and well by equipping them with innovative services and extra benefits to manage chronic conditions and improve health.
Align powered by Sanford Health Plan will be available to Medicare beneficiaries to enroll for 2025. Sanford is hosting community education seminars for Medicare beneficiaries during open enrollment. To learn more consumers can visit align.sandfordhealthplan.com.
Twice a month we visit with Dr. Joshua Jordee---and we talked about the leaves still being on the trees—but they’re changing colors fast and soon will be coming down. Yes there will still need to be some raking for the leaves---but now into October –winter can’t be too far away.
In the past Dr. Jordee has suggested do some stretching to get ready for the yard work ahead. In addition Dr. Jordee suggested doing some stretching before getting involved in the yard work----do most of the motions with your arms or at your hips, rather than bending forward and back.
Get ready—and follow along with Dr. Jordee and his team to be ready for what is bound to be ahead.
We shared Sanford Health breaking ground this past week on the Good Samaritan Society—Founder’s Crossing Senior Community in Sioux Falls—on the corner of Veteran’s Parkway and 57th. It will expand access to high quality care close to home by fulfilling a growing need for senior services on the EAST side of Sioux Falls. Over the next 5 years the population of adults over 65 will grow by nearly 20% in the Sioux Falls area according to Nathan Schema, President and CEO of the Good Samaritan Society. More senior housing units are needed to keep up with the growth and ensure seniors have access to care and community designed specifically for them.
The convenience for residents at Founder’s Crossing will make the community a destination to live, retire and receive health care -so says Mike Wilde, M.D., Chief Physician at Sanford Health. When completed, the Sanford Health Clinic and Lewis Drug will allow more than 300 residents and 200 employees access to primary care, lab, radiology, pharmacy, retail and groceries by simply walking down the hall.
Completed in phases, villas will open first starting in spring 2024, followed by independent living apartments’ assisted living and memory care assisted living apartments, short-term rehab and long term care center in 2027-2028.
