Blog---September 9, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our Agri Business Show for September 9th---talked a lot of agriculture and from a number of different locations.
Agriculture of course is the #1 Industry in South Dakota----pretty doggone good reason we do an agri-business show after we do our business shows.
Today----while we waited awhile for Rocky Foreman---South Dakota Farmers Union to join us from Washington DC were several dozen members were being briefed and weighing in on their thoughts before the politicians in our Nation’s Capital.
Ready to go –back home was Casey Crabtree---he’s a little busy with a special event today—he talked about it---as well as the Special Session upcoming----and we even discussed the Water Safety at Lake Madison---where changes were made to boating---and who could be piloting the water-wings.
Of course he is running for office as well. So he had no shortage of topics---and you will want to listen to the blog on what we talked about and where we are headed.
Back in DC---Rocky followed the interviews I had done with Jeff Kippley----about the fly-in to DC. Kippley of course is Vice President of the South Dakota Farmers Union organization---and national Vice President for Farmers Union.
Rocky—was able to take us behind the curtain—and set the stage for the Farmers Union Show we’ll do next Tuesday. We know that the political winds that blow in DC are not exactly touching everyone the same. And regardless of political party—if you are a farmer you want to make sure that those political-s in DC at least know what a farm bill is----and how to pass one. It’s been years since there was a farm bill passed---and if there was ever an urgency—for one –it would be now.
Rocky has been around the block for a number of these farm runs to DC and national conventions. He was a clear shooter in our interview and I look forward to him being in studio for the hour long show next week.
Lura Roti----we’ve asked Lura Roti to join us this week to talk about what she sees as a journalist and one of those covering agriculture in our great State.
Also in this show—Sarah Heinrich—Growing Harvest Network----she’s a part of our “sister” station in Fargo---and does quite the job covering topics ---there and for our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show.
Matt Swenson—set the mid-morning commodities---- the grains, the meat, the energy and the Big Board on Wall Street from Swenson Commodities.
Lauri Dykstra---shared with us a trip her organization is making to DC—again pitching farm futures---and making sure we get a farm bill and that even our South Dakota office holders there—John Thune, Mike Rounds, and Dusty Johnson---understand with some one-on-one conversations from those back home---we are counting on them.
USDA Foods would benefit---serving individuals and families facing hunger. Today is Hunger Action Day---a key moment during Hunger Action Month when people across the nation united to take action and raise awareness about hunger. And yes 50 years of service –Feeding South Dakota-has been educated to fighting hunger in every county of our state, ensuring that no neighbor had to go without food.
Mr. Tree—John Ball joined us---he was talking about the emerald ash borer---the dangers---and where we are headed. He has worries—and if Mr. Tree has worries—so do I –and you should too. We’ll continue to ask and pry—and share with you as the emerald ash borer saga continues across South Dakota----and in other parts of this country.
Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on Line or just ask Alexa. Norm Anderson posts the show as a podcast—my job is to schedule the guests, write the show---interview the honorable guests----and then write this blog.
