Blog---September 3, 2025—9-10—Working on Wellness Wednesday

Our Working on Wellness Wednesday--- gave us a chance to update the Decision by City of Sioux Falls on Renewing their Ambulance System and what the 5 year extension to the City means.

Joe Kippley—after attending the meeting Tuesday ---shared what is up---how they serve roughly 2000 calls a month--- and why with a zero bid to get the service---other bids aren’t needed.

We do keep close to the situation—because ambulance care is no big deal until someone needs help. They can’t offer service or pick-up patience outside the City Limit----but Kippley and the Board watch the situation closely----

We do want to be among the watchdogs for good ambulance service—and feel what we are seeing—and what the people inside the city limits are getting---is the right cost---and gives us a secure feeling that we know what to expect for the next 5 years.

As part of the working on Wellness Wednesday---we work closely with Dr. Tim Ridgway—who heads the School of Medicine. We asked Dr. Ridgway if we could talk to and share with the audience some of the new medicine students. It gives the audience a sense of what the future holds as well as the students a chance to represent health care in South Dakota. Our guest today was Ellie Blue---she is in her 4th year---and her husband is also in med school—though they have different specialties.

We have been doing this for the last 3 years---we have followed them to road trips to the Legislature---and interviewed them about what they see—and why they are part of our future. Thanks to the School of Medicine and Dr. Ridgway for giving you the audience—and us a chance to learn what they are doing to be prepared---and how they will service in years to come.

Dr. Joshua Jorde talks to us twice a month as part of our regular Working on Wellness Wednesday Shows.

Today he shared some of the taxpayer funded forms of insurance—Medicare, Medicaid and even the VA.

As he described there is a weird sort relationship with Medicare and chiro practice where they both love and hate chiros---and you have to understand who is on what square and what they can do.

There are two doctors at the clinic right now Dr. Jorde and Dr. Olson. Both accept Medicare and they’re working on getting the new doc signed up for it as well, so if he isn’t by the time he starts, he will be soon. Dr Pleuger will be starting---and you have different relationships with Medicare and Chiropractic Care. Not many of the chiros accept Medicaid.

One other thing government insurance doesn’t cover is wellness or maintenance care. They only want to cover active treatment of acute injuries.

Find them at 2821 S Center-just north of the Hy-Vee on Minnesota---or you can call 605-335-0880—they are opened Monday-Wednesday-Friday 9 to 5:30 and Tuesday Thursday 9-2:30—Saturday 9 to noon.

September is Suicide Prevention Month---Mike Keller talked to us about what they do—the grieve and loss services, promoting awareness and at the same time raising money.

We will follow them along as many will be running across South Dakota for a fund raising cause.

Our It’s YOUR Business Show does include a Working on Wellness Wednesday. Yes a med show—with helpful information.

Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9---use the KELO App—Streaming on Line or just ask Alexa. Norm Anderson posts the PODCAST of the show. Among my jobs---schedule the guests, prep for the interviews, do the interviews---and write this blog to help our audience understand what’s in the show.
