Blog-September 10, 2024—10-11---It’s YOUR Agri Business
We started the show with Teri Schmidt—Experience Sioux Falls who with a community and a family have been working to help find a Tall-Selender Husband—and father who has been missing for some time. Tyler Blake (Weathersby) is missing—he has been a Sioux Falls Visitor Industry Partner---who sold some of his artwork on t-shirts at the Falls Visitor Information Center---he has been a special presenter at the ESF Council---and a leader in our community.
There is some concern for his safety---the family has asked for exposure and we as media are working to try to help and send a message. If you have seen him you can call the non-emergency line for the Sioux Falls Police Department.
His project is under the name Search for Tyler—and the link is https:www.facebook.com/search/top?q-Search@20 for @20tyler
Tyler is missing—family—the community and others want him back. It was our way to lead the show this morning---and give Teri a chance to reach out. There are prayers and we will keep you posted.
SD Farmers Union in the 3rd day of their trip to Washington DC---Shelby Landmark talked to me about what they are doing in the fly-in –yes the 30 from South Dakota are away from their crops and livestock to advocate for ag policy during the National Farmers Unon DC Fly-in.
President Doug Sombke will be sharing a full report next Tuesday in the monthly—SD Farmers Unions Show 10-11—on Tuesday. 8000 members are advocated for a farm bill tht will include a competition title to
Increase price discovery and transparency in cattle markets
Require mandatory country of origin labeling for beef
Promote local, regional and value added market opportunities and livestock processing
Strengthen enforcement of the Packers & stockyards Act
Address climate change
Improve soil health.
Throughout the 3 days—family farmers and ranchers have been meeting with USDA Officials and having important one on one meetings with policyholders.
We talked this morning with Hank Eggebratten---about the biggest golf tournament for South Dakota—the Sanford International---that tees off on Friday morning after 10:00—78 golfers are playing—all 50 plus and there are 700 volunteers that are out and about making sure they event continues to be the success it has been in years past. Hank mentioned three names to watch this week—Steve Stricker who has won and looking for his 3rd win—Ernie Els, Richard Green and then he added Boo Weekley—playing well---and who doesn’t love Boo?
We’ll continue to follow along tomorrow—and give those that want to come out a little more food for thought as to tickets—yes food—and family fun.
Sarah Heinrich had the Growing Harvest Network---Matt Swenson—Swenson Commodities---then we heard from Danita Murray—se updated SD Corn just as we did with Jerry Schmitz---South Dakota Soybeans on Monday. Danita shared as we heard from Jerry—the prices should be better—and the hope is they’ll get there. The weather has given some challenges----but we are into September—and we’ll continue to fall while the beans and corn go to their proper storage facilities.
Bryson Paterson gave us some updates today---on the SBA---what they are sharing—how to submit a nominee for one of the State Wide Association Awards. They winners are from all over South Dakota----and we enjoy spending time with Bryson sharing how the winners are selected—and then helping present the winners.
We closed the show with Laura Edwards—SD State Climatologist—she projected some warm weather for the football weekend---the Sanford International Golf----and those still trying to get the harvest in.
