Blog—October 8, 2025-10-11-It’s YOUR Agri Business—49-97
Interesting It’s YOUR Agri Business Show----just 3 away from Mr. 5,000.
In this one---we covered a lot of territory on Ag and other topics.
We started with President Jose Marie Griffiths—talking about DSU—and the fact that she will help bring in the new President –we talked about the election period---all the things she has done as President—and one that talked with us a lot—probably more than we deserved.
She shared what we should know---and what will be different. The way that South Dakota has grown and really how fortunate she was to work with the students and leadership across this state.
I did ask her to when the new President is chosen and sworn in that join us for the first interview.
We talked with Pernell Insurance Agency---centered around the cost of Medicare and other issues—and the phonies that are out there---looking to steal your money----Mr. Perry Bly---shared the concerns we should have in these challenging times with government insurance going up---other –many phonies trying to tell you they can help you—but only want to help themselves to your money and leave you without insurance or a pile of money. I asked Mr. Bly to join us in our Friday show---with Jessie Schmidt on the road this weekend. The BBB is well aware of so many people that have been taken---we want to have someone who trying to help citizens step in and help remind people to be careful and make sure you are dealing reputable carriers.
Mary Michaels---and AARP----she had a chance to visit with us 3 times this week---and we appreciate what she does, how she does it and what else we should know about letting AARP be on your side.
Vance Thompson shared with us his night event last night—and all that was done with the 80 or so people that were in attendance. Interesting to not only talk to Dr. Vance Thompson before the event—but after---and perhaps we will do more of that in the future.
Brett Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank visited with us about the work they are doing in these trying times ---people being hit by cut-backs---and not knowing who to believe with the insurance and care coverage. Plains Commerce always visits with me about this on the Monday and Wednesday Shows
Sarah Heinrich---KFGO Fargo---sorry she has to live in North Dakota—but gives us the ag stories she is working on. She is good at what she does.
Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities—shoots us the morning numbers around 10:30---and how if you need more numbers first thing in the morning or late afternoon—you can get it. I did ask him how we were doing in 2025—compared to the pricing in previous years as we are in the las three months of the year. He was quick to say---work needs to be done—and nothing is really easy on farm business these days.
John Ball---Mr. Tree joined us----we talked about the hardest hit of the communities in 2025----the trees and the billions of bugs---- and what he sees in early October—and what he finds could happen with trees in the next 20 to 30 days. He’s good at what he does---and who can argue successfully with Mr. Tree.
Laura Edwards –helped us close the show---we looked back to the moisture in 2025---the cold snaps—what she sees as we head towards Halloween--- in a little more than 3 weeks. This climatologist is well respected—and we knows when she speaks not only our audience listens—but so do people around South Dakota.
Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on line—or just ask Alexa. Norm Anderson posts the podcast for this show and others. My job is to schedule the guests—work with them on the guests and what to ask—then ask the question and eventually write the blog for the show.
Our show will hit an unusual milestone next Monday on October 13th.
Yes I count the shows—so I can go back and look at what was said and when-----having done 5,000 TV Shows in a number of states—including Iowa, South Dakota, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, New Mexico and even Mexico----I know how long it takes—what I’ve learned and shared with people everywhere. Yes including here. I’m not ready to step aside ---and I work hard for those that pay me—and the audience that watches and hears me. Thanks for being part of the people I continue to want to serve.
