It was our It’s YOUR Business—Family Friday Show---and show 50-20 in OUR ORIGINAL It’s YOUR Business Series.
In the two hours—we featured 7 (if I counted right) guests that had the chance to share what they were doing in Indianapolis----at the National FFA Convention.
We started this show with Jodi Schwan—Sioux Falls Business---as she does launching the Friday show—we talked about the events of the week---

Jessie Schmidt—BBB of South Dakota---shared—the Scam Alert—saying “Beware of Health Care “cons” during open enrollment if you are changing coverage ---watch out for unsolicited calls claiming to “help” you find the best deal. Unfortunately, scammers see this open enrollment period as a chance to trick people out of their money as well as their personal information.
Be aware that Open enrollment runs from October 15 thru December 7th. Medicare Advantage open enrollment is from January 1 to March 3st.
Common tactics scammers use---include fake phone calls, texts and offers for “free gifts” or “health screenings.
One consumer reported being targeted thru a next message and shared—“I received a text saying that my health benefits were about to expire and needed to call the number to renew. Then he wanted the victim to get her old card and read off info to him—including date, card number and.
Kip Rounds—SD Game Fish and Parks shared the story lines with numbers on the Pheasant hunter numbers coming to South Dakota.
As we turn to November—he reported the Black Hills Deer Season opens November 1st----you can expect we will talk more about the Deer Season in future weeks with Mr. Rounds—courtesy of the SD Game Fish and Parks.

It is the final weekend of the Downtown Sioux Falls Pork Showdown—presented by the South Dakota Pork Producers Council. It is your last chance to taste and rate the incredible pork creations from nearly 30 downtown restaurants –all part of crowning the winners.
Pork Showdown is on one of the favorite events because it drives people into restaurants, supports local chefs and reminds everyone why downtown is the best dining district in Sioux Falls
The winners will be announced next Friday.
For Halloween---The Old Courthouse Museum is hosting their annual Halloween Party Friday from 3:30-6:30 with trick or treating thru the galleries, kids’ crafts and free admission.
For the grown ups -the Official Halloween Bar Crawl kicks off later today at 4PM and run thru Saturday night .
The State Theatre is keeping the Halloween spirit alive all weekend with a classic lineup on the big screen----
Cat Clarke talked about a new golf course plus one last event before the season closes down.
Jimmy Ohlander—Sioux Falls Stampede talked about another Dakota Battle---the Stampede will battle in Fargo this weekend----and the next time a puck drops in Sioux Falls will be later in November.
My job was to take the Football Playoff scores—share the winners and losers---and what is ahead in future weeks. Should be a great close to the season in all classes.
We did visit with a couple of those students still in Indianapolis at the National FFA Convention. In all we talked to 7 or 8 competing for the national awards or working to help the students be in the running.
Diana Patterson—Sanford Career Opportunities did another chapter on what’s available and how to get in the running for different positions---something she does for our listeners in every show.
Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9---use the KELO App or streaming on-line.
Norm Anderson provides the podcast for this popular weekly show—and my job is to schedule the guests, prepare the Q and A---my job is to prepare the questions, ask them and hopefully make it easier for those listening to the show to be able to follow along with the blog I write after each show.
