I’M Bill Zortman and welcome to IT”S YOUR Agri Business—Show—Show 50-21 in our ORIGINAL It’s YOUR Business Series.

It’s OUR LAST Show for October 2025---and yes this was the month that we hit Show #5000-----still so much to do—so many story lines to follow---and yes my job is to help FARMERS---and others that get stuck the political pitter-patter of life in 2025----

From the FFA National Conference in Indianapolis ----finishing the next couple of days—we have stories to tell—as a part of the #1 Industry in South Dakota---Agriculture—and I had chance to talk to the #1 known agriculturist in South Dakota---Darren Hefty---

((((Taped Segment----Darren Hefty---AG PHD)))))

On our Wednesday Agri-Business Show—I had a chance to visit RF Buche on Wednesday this week---the SNAP to it concern –and it is a serious one---

Snap-----one in 5 SD Children are food insecure---that’s a statistic from here not New York City---or Indianapolis Indiana---

Nearly 75,000 South Dakotans stand to lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits starting tomorrow—and our state had made it clear—there’s no plan to cover these benefits if Congress doesn’t act.

The federal program provided $14.76 MILLION worth of assistance to almost 75,000 South Dakotans in September—including 33,198 children.

I met this guy---this week---RF----to me and to you the RF should stand for a REAL FRIEND.

He like me came from a family of grocery store owners--and he spent his four generations becoming today—President & CEO of GF Buche Co—serving rural and tribal communities in SD for 120 years.

Some of his customers are the poorest people in the United States –and live in the most remote areas of South Dakota.

Families are anxious, wondering if and when they’ll e able to put food on the table. Children should not feel the stress of parents deciding whether to SKIP MEALS.

When Washington play politics---real families go hungry.

Tell us RF—about SNAP distribution days---its not hypothetical—it happens every month here in South Dakota.

     You shared to many---THIS isn’t POLITICAL---It’s PERSONAL—

Treating food access as a bargaining chip is a moral failure.

SNAP is not a luxury—it is the backbone of food access for

  • Working parents
  • Seniors stretching limited income
  • Kids who deserve nourishment to learn and grow
  • Veterans are deserving more than just survival mode.

     Tell us about your non-profit----Teambuchecares.org

A hundred per cent of Teach Buche Cares funds go directly to food assistance—no administration fees, no delay---

They help where they can---including urgent grocery assistance when a family requests su

support—because doesn’t operate on a government timeline

Tell us what you are asking Congress to do---

-----------we only have a few minutes today---but we want to have you back—answer questions---take calls----and lets do that in this month of Thanksgiving----beginning in just a few hours---

Just ahead---we’ll visit with the first of two FFA Guests from South Dakota –visiting at national convention in Indianapolis---

10:20/00—KELO Commercials

Tell us who you have and what we should know ---both veterans to the National FFA Convention—and those there for the first time---

Members---gerri interview—yes bill will be included-----

What they have learned---what you will remember Gerri about this event----

------------------Gerri-------------------

We are planning to do a series of interviews with those attending whether they be the leaders or the students-----we’ll announce plans on that next week----

--------------------Gerri-----------Q/A with Tri Valley -----------

Coming up next---Sarah Heinrich---with the Growing Harvest Network---from our friends at KFGO in Fargo----

10:28/00—Sarah Heinrich---Growing Harvest Network

10:30/30---kelo commercials

10:32/30---Ag Biz 3

We start this side of the 2nd half of our Ag Show with Matt Swenson—Swenson Commodities----

Matt What are you seeing in our last report on grain quotes for October—2025

--------------------Matt---------------

People wanting quotes –early morning during the day –or late afternoon—who should they call----

--------------------Matt----------------

------------thanks for the visit----------and the number updates—

Each Friday---for the last 4 years---we have done one thing that those in South Dakota wanted to know more about-----that is the Ukrainian workers---known for being hard workers—and yes I’d put a lot of them right beside those hard working South Dakotans—and from our neighboring farm states---

Alla Kureninova-and her family came at different times---but they have proven to be good—hard-working people—but Alla talks to us about what the Ukrainians are seeing and doing---

----------------of course first—all are keeping an eye on Ukraine-----all the wars----back home----

---------what do you read into what you see------and what those you work for and with—say about Ukraine and being just what the doctor ordered for the USA----

---------------Alla----------------------

I'm giving updates on Ukraine. But I cannot ignore the devastation, destruction and loss of lives brought on by hurricane melissa. Watching those news updates does bring me back to watching the updates from Ukraine. The hurt of the people is the same, the loss of home and unfortunate loss of life. the uncertainty about your friends and family, the inability to help. But also a huge outpouring of support from close and far. Just like in Ukraine you also see people that are quickly changing priorities from going to work and raising kids to helping their neighbors and hugging their surviving friends and family a little more.

US intelligence is confirming that Russia is not showing any signs of being willing to compromise on peace or cease fire deals.

I cannot stop the war, so I like to focus on what I can control. I have been helping one family at a time, one problem at a time. while still keeping a finger on the pulse of immigration policy changes, state labor shortages, community challenges for immigrants and locals alike. I'm openly offering my experience and my point of view, to make sure that successful positive immigrants' perspective and story is a part of those future solutions. That's all we can do. and thank you for your help in that!

----------Alla thanks for all you have done for Ukraine---and in helping us here in South Dakota—understand the Ukrainians—

-----------------------Alla--------------------

We appreciate you—and each member of your family that made the trip from Ukraine to South Dakota—

----------Just ahead—one more report from Indianapolis on the South Dakotans competing at the National FFA Convention----

10:46/00—KELO Commercials

10:47/30---Ag Biz 4

   Q & A------------

   And---

   What’s ahead

   When will they get home

   What they learned-----

---------one other interview TBA---could be Mr. Tree or----a late add---

Justin Glisin----or Laura Edwards---Iowa-SD State climatologist---
