  I’m Bill Zortman and Yes It’s Finally here----our Final Friday----and we are happy to have you listening today----a day of history for me---as just before 11:00 this morning---I’ll bid you farewell after 53-83 shows.

  Thanks for being a part of our journey thru the years---I’ll miss you but when I turned 80 on September 27th----I had been told---it was time. My wife Carolyn who is with me this morning---had been saying that before—so the deck was stacked----and let’s get started.

   Jodi Schwan----has been our leader on Friday’s and is here this morning----Jodi thank you for the Jodi’s Journal story that was concise but so TRUE---“THE END of an ON-AIR Era”

   You and I both pride ourselves in knowing how to tell a story---and my story about you---is pretty simple---you have what it takes to discover the story, research the story---and write it so very well. You have always been so good at that…but I never in my wildest imagination thought my Retirement date  with coincide as part of October 31st and Trick or Treat. And yes as I looked back---1964 was my first broadcast gig---and it was at the University of IOWA---KWAD—the inter-dormitory voice –where I did my show---and play by play in football and basketball. That is a 60 year Career!!!

   I really liked what you told me last Friday---that I easily do the work of reporter, host and producer putting togethers hours of local radio each week.

   So as I look at you---you deserve to be here with us on the Friday’s telling your headlines for the week. And you know how to break a story. I even told you---after Trick or Treat comes and goes---I may need to just keep my hands and mind working with you on some stories----always thought that would be interesting for those you reach.

   So what can I answer for you after you had some time to think after writing the story that was dated October 25th.

     The real challenge I have is that there are a lot of opportunities out there and they are still asking---if I would be interested---at 80---I’m not sure----but I know my Carolyn wants to travel and we need to do that too…
