Blog-October 30, 2024-10-11-It’s YOUR Agri Business
Our It’s YOUR Business Show closed out the month of October with this 10-11 show.
Nikki Gronli---joined us as she helped launch the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program
Agtegra—is receiving more than $3M to expand their fertilizer production ---which helps increase domestically-produced fertilizer products here in South Dakota.
It’s a part of the Rural Energy for America Program—which provides funding to rural small businesses, ranchers and farmers to install energy efficient and renewable energy systems into their operations.
Since 2021—Rural Development has invested nearly $25 million in Rural Energy for America Program projects—in all 99 of them—
        Types of investments:
LED Lighting
Geothermal Heat Pumps
Grain Dryers
Hog Heat Maps
Solar
Wind Turbines
Convenience and Grocery Store Coolers

      Who received money?
Fox Run LLC Received $87,000
----Install 504 Hog heat Mats inside a farrowing barn near Parker
----Expected to save $24,918.94 and 329,34,642 kilowatt hours of the company’s energy use per year
----Enough energy to power 30 homes

And there were many more

We will follow the project along with Nikki and encourage businesses to get involved

This made the 3rd time this week---that we have visited with SDSU’s Bob Thaler----and Lyon’s County pork producer Dwight Mogler. They were at a big Pork Event in Kansas City—they each reported back after being part of quite the conference. We enjoy featuring those that make road trips and are willing to report back to our audience spread across South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota---who really knows where else North Dakota and Nebraska too?

Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank ---part of the Planners updated us on the Wednesday show –just as they do on the Monday 10:00 show. We always want to know what they are doing for those in agriculture---in business, the young couples just getting married or the older couples looking at estate planning. 9 banks or so—they started in Hoven and are still growing. We enjoy working with them----and if our listeners need a friend—big city or small---rural communities---we are helping.

Sarah Heinrich had the Growing Harvest Network—Matt Swenson followed with the Swenson Commodities.

We continued our series this week on the ballot issues –all seven of them here in South Dakota.

I had been hearing in so many different locations----that people didn’t know what they were voting for.

So---my thought was to get an Ad Agency or maybe two or three that would remind people to study the 7 amendments before they vote. Probably too late for those that are voting early---but we wanted those going to the polls on election day—to know what it means.

My thought a week ago was to get one of the advertising agencies to work with us—to remind voters to read and study the issues. Matt Merritt from Paulsen ---was the first one I was talking to ----and Matt has been doing it this week.

In just 30 second commercials----if the agency is sharing why to vote a certain way it doesn’t leave any time to give an opposing view. Matt offered where to find the information on the 7 issues----and for people to study. Why? Because the decisions being made are going to affect the lives of people and perhaps their income. Pretty simple---but the reminder is important ----and there is still time.

Bryson Patterson---Small Business of South Dakota brought along a guest—Amy Waite—Sr Loan Officer with Ally Dakota Development.

We heard some of the important stuff today but Bryson will enlighten you more next week. Listen and learn –to the podcast that will be posed in the next 24 hours.

One of the few shows that didn’t close with a weather look---but I think Justin and Laura---might be happy I didn’t include with a Halloween look ahead.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business show---brings together lots of those in the farm business—lawmakers---those that serve farm circles----listen live---I did win a national award in the early part of the year for what we do—and how we do it. It makes me work even harder to tell stories others don’t---Questions for me—feel free to call/text at 605-728-BILL or email me at bill.zortman@mwcradio.com. Norm Anderson once he gets the blog can post the podcast.
