I’m Bill Zortman and Welcome to It’s YOUR Business---we have our 9-10 regular show---and our friends from South Dakota Farm Bureau—will be doing their MONTHLY SHOW—10-11 Today---we know with all going on in agriculture—they’ll do a great job and share stories you may not have heard or can become more familiar with---

-----One of the events we are following this week has our FFA Members on the road-----for their annual National Convention---Gerri Eide and Carolyn Hansen are helping visit with the youngsters on their big trip—and a number of them were literally on the bus----earlier this morning…

---joining us is ----

9-10: Kaylee Klinkhammer and Karlee Klinkhammer, McCook Central FFA Chapter, National Agriscience Finalist in the Food Products and Processing Category. They are also competing in the Agronomy Contest this week.

Here's the numbers you can call (I provided all 3 just in case). They will be on the bus traveling to Indianapolis at this time.

Mr. Terry Rieckman (their advisor):

Finalist in the Food Products and Processing Category. They are also competing in the Agronomy Contest this week.

Here's some information on their agriscience project:

The purpose of this project was to test the concentration of glucose and sucrose in common foods and how converting sucrose to glucose affects how much glucose we digest. This project can help someone with hypoglycemia learn what foods are best to boost glucose fast. These findings may help people with diabetes make better dietary decisions by identifying which foods should be eaten in moderation based on their glucose and sucrose content. The findings will also highlight foods that have a minimal impact on blood sugar levels.

----------this is an important week for all of those with FFA in Indianapolis---but what about your future-s—where are you headed

-------------we will be visiting again tomorrow with our FFA Students and instructors in Indianapolis---- as well as Friday---

When we come back----Jordan Deffenbaugh---gets us ready for the Working Families Legislative Forum coming up in Sioux Falls---November 8th and 9th---all about having ideas for a better South Dakota..

9:16/30---Biz 2

We just jumped off the South Dakota FFA Bus arriving in Indianapolis for their national convention—nice to have Kaylee and Karlee from the FFA---at McCook Central share with us what they hope to do this week---and hopefully we’ll get a chance to revisit them on Friday----

Looking ahead---YOUR VOICE, YOUR IDEAS, OUR FUTURE---November 8 and 9th Working Families Legislative Forum

Jordan Deffenbaugh has joined us in studio –to look ahead—this morning

----------as I saw in the opening light—in the midst of the shutdown, there are key actions we need to be taking as a community. We cannot wait for others to act. It is demanded of us that we plan ahead and engage now.

-------------Jordan with that description—who should be involved in the event coming up on November 8th and 9th—a Saturday and Sunday—

---RSVP & Legislative Survey-----is a critical action----you are using the forum to develop actual policies and bills based on the data to be collected. Every survey response becomes part of a knowledge database—you are building to generate as many working class focused bills as possible before the legislative session begins in January

------------------Jordan-------------------

    Why this matters now

    The Bigger Picture---Strong South Dakota

It also means identifying the right people to take on the roles democracy requires and making sure working class folks are not just represented but actually holding power and making decisions

Our grandparents built this kind of infrastructure---neighborhood associations, union halls, mutual aid networks---in essence reclaiming that tradition because democracy is not just voting—it’s the daily practice of people making decisions about the systems that affect their lives

---------you want people listening to ---

------First out the legislative survey—even if you can’t attend

------Share it widely –text to five people have group chats---

------show up November 8-9 if you can—talk directly with elected officials and legislative candidates, participate in small group discussions where every voice carries equal weight

--------you say we are all in agreement that South Dakota grows stronger when working people have a real seat at the table---This is about practical work, neighborly collaboration and the stewardship of our communities future---

-----what else should our audience know?

Jordan Deffenbaugh---lets talk again before November 8th and 9th..
