Blog-October 25, 2024—9-10—It’s YOUR Business
The last Friday of October---and we had a lot to cover in both hours---
To start with Jodi Schwan---Sioux Falls business—Sanford—she talked about the profile as well as the proposed Wisconsin merger. Our hopes are that this time the merger will happen.
The Compass Center---layoffs—one of 41 businesses affected in trying to help as a non-profit that serves victims. Feds said it was the last $5 million they would deliver-----and South Dakota was like the other states---no profit---but you are still expected to help the victims. We’ll see how this plays out after the arguments about spending in a Presidential Election  Year.
Jodi does good work----and we did talk briefly about it on the air---our hopes are that other media will be able to find ways to do their stories in the time ahead.
Jessie Schmidt---BBB of South Dakota---the topic again involves scammers—Medicare of Healthcare time to renew---and if you follow Jessie ---you’ll realize there is a way to do it---and stay covered and not be swindled along the way.
In one of the reports—the target reported that a caller pretended to be an agent “asking if I got a new updated Medicare card in the mail. And of course he then wanted to verify the name and mailing address—and shared to get rid of my old card but read off into to him on the lower right side of the card. And he finally wanted the card number.
Another targeted thru a text saying his health benefits were about to expire and he needed to call the number to renew.
All examples of what not to fall for.
Go to the BBB for the report and learn additional come-on’s.

A week after we followed the arrival of hunters to Sioux Falls---and all over South Dakota---we got an update from Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls and Kip Rounds Game Fish and Parks.  Big numbers reported and we heard of some of the favorable comments about enjoying visiting South Dakota---and being happy to hunt the birds. Thanks to both Kip and Teri for keeping us informed. We’ll continue to work to let people know how much we enjoy having them come to visit.

We reminded the audience about the Initiated Measures being discussed Friday night at West Central High Auditorium 7-9.
Five Measures being discussed and they have found people to discuss both sides. Important to know what you are voting for---not just believing what one side is saying on the street, on the picture tube, the radio---or even phone calls. Local residents in the Hartford-Humboldt area were encouraged to attend on Friday night—and we hope they do.
Dr. Allen Unruh---talked about Heinrich who has had numbness in his feet for at least 2 years and hot burning sensations. He was taking gabapentin with a lot of side effects. Dr. Unruh asked him how much it had improved in the last couple of months and he said at least 50%. Heinrich said he has been improving each week.
When he came in he had no feeling sort of Harley on pinwheel test no feeling on vibration of the feet. Cool sensation
With his improvements he signed up for another 8 visits and is pleased with his results.
We’ll talk to you next week about an event he will have to give those that are interested to come together for a clinic late in the afternoon----perhaps next week or early November.

John Gaskins took us through the big game Saturday night with USD-SDSU---should be interesting as the team try to stay near the top of the Rankings. USF and Augie are still in contention for the NSIC Title Game.
High Schools were off on this Thursday night—if I remember right –each year about this time—they have teachers meetings on the Friday---and it is basically near the end of the regular football season.
The Vikings lost their 2nd game in 5 days last night---so much for a perfect season. What’s next? A WIN would help.
Jimmy Ohlander---Sioux Falls Hockey talked us thru the early start of the 2024-2025 Hockey Season. You’ll want to listen to him to see which two players we talked about—where they were—and where they are at—and any events that could perhaps get you to follow the hockey puck in Sioux Falls.
We closed the show with Diana Patterson—Sanford Career Opportunities. The slot this week is a coding position---but you can use Sanford resources to find the complete list of open opportunities.
Our It’s YOUR Business Show makes a lot of contacts—follows a lot of important story-lines and includes those that are in business to help.
