Blog---May 9, 2025—9-10—It’s YOUR Business

What a nice show with our Friday Family---- they are part of what we have been doing for 48-15 and 16 shows today.

Jodi Schwan---Sioux Falls Business explaining a few of the events—downtown---

Progress for a major downtown hotel going thru a renovation and new nameWhat’s new at the zoo for the coming season—listen to the blog you might be surprisedThe Latest on Pomegranate Market’s Expansion DowntownWe talked about the NEW POPE---and Jodi remembered him in Chicago at a Whtie Sox Game---and being the 1st American POPE

Jessie Schmidt---BBB of South Dakota---we talked about those folks looking to cause us grief ---the can be a secret weapon to loan processing---or your back yard—or something else. If you don’t recognize an email arrival or a phone call number---avoid it. Don’t ever give them your information. The world with these kind of scams and scum---don’t need to find someone else to trick and certainly not trade properly.

It’s sad----but know if you have questions---utilize Jessie and the BBB and she can help.

Jessie too joined me talking about the 1st American Pope---and we then talked about the number of local and regional priests and I’m sure sisters as well that know Pope Leo XIV. For me the surprise was that with all the aging priests 70+ he is 69. Anything we can do to be closer to our religion—and be better men and women we should want to do.

Another Schmidt—Teri---had one more chance to share their Big Event this coming Tuesday at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. 600 people have already signed up----and the entertainer will be using a “Baby Grand” to help entertain and educate those attending. As we told Experience Sioux Falls—Teri---we will follow up mid-week after the event and find out what the 600 or so learned—and what Teri and team shared with the audience about where we are and where we are going as Tourism System marches on.

Kip Rounds—South Dakota Game Fish and Parks---talked about the Pheasant—our State Bird---what else we are seeing as temps hit the 90’s for the next 3 or 4 days----and perhaps just as important---where visitors can go on line to get information about what season it is outdoors—and what they need to know about where and when to enjoy the South Dakota Great Outdoors.

Taryn Sietsma---Chief Development Officer for Downtown Sioux Falls—talked about moving here---and what she has found in the 18 or so years she and family have been here. She was involved with a dozen or so organizations that are truly non-profit---what she learned about that ----and how Sioux Falls has welcomed her after moving here from Wilmer or is it Wilmar, Minnesota. She and Brandon are working together to make sure we understand the events that are going on downtown—and how even newcomers can get use to what is happening and enjoy it.

Dave Austad—when he hasn’t joined regularly –shared a call that said he would be happy to join us when we need someone. Mr. Golf---was here—and as it turned out---much like his visit a week before THE MASTERS—we invited him back before the 2nd MAJOR golf event of the season. He picked Rory McIlroy to win the MASTERS---and he did---when he asked me who I would pick on the Masters all I had time for was to say---my time is up----I wouldn’t have picked Rory---but probably one of the southern boys that plays well. So the PGA is coming up next week at Charlotte, North Carolina. Dave picked Scottie Scheffler--#1 in the world to win-----and when he asked me---I gave him the answer that would be the BEST STORY from the media---Rory wins his 2nd Major Event for 2025. We’ll see. He also suggested not to lose a golf club like I did last Sunday (4-Callaway at Willow)—he would be printing stickers to go on my clubs which would have my name, phone number—and how to reach me. Willow has called me twice about 4 irons that were found—but neither was the cold 4-Callaway I had.

We closed the show with Diana Patterson—Sanford Career Opportunities---they were looking today for those that could provide Patient Financial Services.
