Brandon Hanson---Mr. Downtown Sioux Falls keeps us plugged into what to expect in the next few days in this 9:30 slot on Friday—
You can feel it… Downtown is starting to wake up again. The patios are getting dusted off, people are lingering a little longer, and the calendar is filling up fast. This is one of those weekends where you really start to see the shift into spring.
And all month long, we’re still right in the middle of Mash Madness.
If you haven’t jumped in yet, now’s the time. Downtown has turned into a month-long drink competition with 31 different stops featuring beer, cocktails, coffee, and non-alcoholic creations. It’s a great excuse to explore somewhere new, grab a drink, and cast your vote for the best of 2026.
Now looking at the weekend…
Friday night, you’ve got a great mix of options depending on your pace.
If you want something interactive, Plum’s Cooking Company is hosting a Tex-Mex cooking class at 6 p.m. It’s hands-on, it’s social, and you leave a better cook than you walked in.
For live performance, Pride & Prejudice opens Friday night at the Washington Pavilion. This is a fresh stage adaptation of a classic, and it runs all weekend.
Also Friday, the USD Chamber Singers are performing their “Americana” concert at First Congregational Church. It’s a really strong program that blends classical and contemporary choral music.
And if your night leans more high-energy, Heated Rivalry Night at ICON kicks off at 9 p.m. Think dance floor, throwbacks, and a packed room.
Saturday is where things really spread out across downtown.
Start your morning with something new — SISU Pop-Up Yoga at 9 a.m. It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s a perfect way to kick off the first weekend of spring energy downtown.
Late morning into early afternoon, the Washington Pavilion hosts Wild About Science: Invertebrates, which is a great family-friendly option with hands-on learning and live animals.
As the day rolls into evening, you’ve got a full lineup.
At the Pavilion, Broadway to Hollywood with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra brings a big, polished performance featuring Broadway talent and familiar favorites.
Pride & Prejudice continues Saturday night if you missed opening night.
Over at ICON, Reviver’s EP Release Show brings a full lineup of live music for a louder, high-energy option.
If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed but still a night out, Comedian Jamie Campbell is performing at Lucky’s with his national tour — a solid option if you just want to laugh for a couple hours.
Then on Sunday, things slow down a bit in the best way.
You’ve got one more chance to catch Pride & Prejudice with a Sunday matinee at the Washington Pavilion — a perfect, easy way to wrap up the weekend.
The big picture this weekend is pretty simple. Downtown is busy again. Events are stacking up, patios are right around the corner, and there’s something happening at every pace — whether that’s coffee and a mocktail for Mash Madness, a show at the Pavilion, or a full night out.
To see everything going on and plan your weekend, head to dtsf.com/events.
We’ll see you downtown.
