   South Dakota Farmers Union Show—the month of May---the 9th—10-11



   Each month---South Dakota Farmers Union works with me to put together a monthly show—that brings the oldest Farmers Union show to talk the issues----and those that are spread across South Dakota.



   In this show—Doug Sombke—President---SD Farmers Union hosted the show with me---covering a lot of issues that is bound to get some attention,



   The key issue we talked about today—included President Sombke---and Jim Seurer---Glacial Lakes.



    The two are on different sides of the fence. President Sombke---pointed out the Summit Carbon Solution has violated farmer’s landowner rights.



     The company is attempting to build a C02 pipeline across SD is suing more than 80 SD Farmers who do not want the company and its pipeline on their land. 



     South Dakota Farmers Union members address the importance of landowner rights decades ago into policy. It still sands as a main issue for today’s members. The policy strongly supports farmers control and use of their land rights,



     Summit Carbon Solutions is a privately held company with the millions to lose if they are not able to complete their plans for this C)2 Pipeline.



    Pipelines can and do leak



        Jim Seurer/Glacial Lakes dies with his members gave another position. 



       Oren Lesmeister ---Minority Leader of the House---just recently did a fly-in to DC recently. 



       Also in the show—we introduced you t Brian Flatmoe---SD Farm Ranch Families.



       We talked about what he is doing---how they host Coal Springs Threshing Bee---interesting family



       We visited with Anthony Bly---he updated us on the seeds being planed in the ground. 



        Laura Edwards SD State Climatologist---updated us on the wettest---driest in the state----and expectations.



         Our Ag Business show—SD Farmers Union---gave us a lot of discussion today---and we are happy to provide story-lines very important to the #1 Industry in AG in South Dakota.

Blog---May 1, 2024—9-10—Working on Wellness Wednesday     
   We started the Month of May with a Working on Wellness Wednesday Show—interesting topics---good people---they know about treating people—and working people---all I had to do was organize and drive the bus.

   We started with Dr. Joshua Jorde who joins us on the 1st and last Wednesday Wellness date in the month.

   He started with a discussion about two types of injuries---falls in the elderly and sports injuries in the younger age groups.

    Yes sports leagues—starting up---injuries aren’t much of a surprise but the falls may seem unusual to some people.

    Getting more active---is the name of the game----the older folks could still be in their own home—or an apartment---and all they are trying to do is have mobility in their own homes. 

    Studies have found that chiropractic care, regardless of technique, improves proprioception, sensorimotor function and postural stability. Most of these have been found to do by chiropractic adjustments affecting the cerebellum at the rear base of the brain-even by adjustments nowhere near the head and next. 

    Proprioception is essentially the body’s ability to determine on its own, where it is in space and in relation to the rest of the body. Sensiromotor function is essentially reaction speed. Wheen there’s a sensory stimulus, whether vision or sound—it’s a person’s ability to physically react to it. 

    Postural stability is probably a bit more clear to the listener –what it likely means, but maybe less clear on how it helps. 

    The difference between standing and talking that first walking step or going from the last walking step to stopping becomes more stable. In sports even if not in a neutral posture you should still be able in whatever resting posture you’re in to have a more stable posture. Dr. Jorde leads a team of 3 veteran chiros and shares what he sees with our audience.

     Mary Michaels—AARP Director in South Dakota visits with us and gives us some good advice---this month on making sure your skin is ready for the Sun.

    AARP always provides great health information—to keep those listening and reading up-to-date on research from other organizations to watch important trends. What was found—US adults 18 and older aren’t doing enough to protect themselves from the sun. While more than half say they wear sunglasses always or most of the time if they’ll be outside for an hour or more, their typical sunscreen usage falls far short, with slightly more than 1/3 saying they never perform skin self-exams. AARP found that adults 8 and older aren’t doing enough to protect themselves from the sun. More than half say they wear sunglasses always—or most of the time if they’ll be outside for an hour or more. 

   1/3 say they never perform skin self-exams----it matters because cancer diagnoses are becoming more common among adults 50 and younger. Although sunshine helps provide needed levels of vitamin  D was well as helping to decrease stress, improve mental health, and regulate sleep, it’s crucial to protect ones skin against UV exposure. 

   Most skin cancers are curable if detected and treated early. Regular skin self-exams will help save lives.

   9:32---Dr. Allen Unruh with his wife Leslee hosted quite the event at the Sioux Falls Convention Center last Friday. The topic helping answer questions about Abortions----and do it in a way---that those are considering it----should know the facts----the real facts—and make their own decisions. Hundreds attended---and were touched with the stories from those that were very close to being aborted by their mothers. You walk away from the event---asking what you can do to help----politics free----part of it---being welcoming----more than $700,000 was donated----as the work continues now well past 40 years. Interesting crowd---very attentive to what was being discussed and was going on around them. Made me step up my game a little bit as the MC for the evening. But the Lord I believe answered my prayers and gave me the strength to communicate in a strong and caring manner.

   Wendy Dooley---the HELP Line joined us at 9:46---it is Mental Health Awareness Month---

   The plan is always to encourage those that need to help to call the help line –we just talk about and urge our listeners to help where you can ---for those around you—or if it is you---don’t wait ask and there is help available.
