Blog-May 7, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
We started our It’s YOUR Agri Business show with Minnesota Ag Commissioner Tom Peterson----last night weather was a factor across our multiple states---Tom gave us a look at the conditions in his state---what farmers are saying---and the planting that has been going on.

As he came on the air with us to open the show—he said he was scheduled today for meetings with Minnesota Farm Bureau—talking water quality and the Avian Flu in turkeys.

Of course we wanted to know about the Legislative Session—which is still in business---and what he is asking for and hopes to get out of DC.

We gave them credit for how well the Timberwolves are playing up 2-0 in the NBA Playoffs against the defending champions---the Twins have just had a 12 game winning streak----and it gives Minnesotans and their visitors a chance to work—enjoy the sports—and turning from spring to summer soon.

Stress is always an issue for those in Ag---I like to share our concerns when we visit with our officials in South Dakota---in Minnesota and in Iowa. It’s the way Ag’s Peterson and I close our show---showing our concern---and hoping for better days for families.

Tomorrow Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig joins us.

Jamie Wood---SBA of South Dakota gave us a little insight about an event May 9th---at 3PM –the virtual Military Spouse Appreciation Month event focusing on connecting you with SBA resources for every of the entrepreneurship journey.

In essence you can learn more about SBA counseling and resource partners
SBA’s Learning Platform and other virtual training
Accessing capital, including being lender ready
Fed government certification and contracting opportunities
And Emergency preparedness and resilience for small businesses

May 9th—Startup Sioux Falls is hosting a Linked-in social media training for small businesses.

Learn how to improve the visual appeal of your profile
Understand how to craft engaging content that captures attention and sets you apart in your industry
Learn what to highlight and where to position it for maximum impact
Explore the ins and outs of Linked-in settings, including adding SEO elements and configuring security settings to protect you privacy.

Sadie Swier---and Sara Luan---shared an important step to grow a stable child care business program—designed exclusively for aspiring childcare entrepreneurs. The  day weekend bootcamp and the 0 week cohort based program are designed to help you develop the successful sustainable business you’re ready to run.

It’s a program that has been needed for years—decades and longer. Child care that can be afforded and safe---and we’ll continue to follow-along.

Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network----Matt Swenson the morning commodities---Tyler Torden---Sioux Metro was joined by Lennox leader Ryan Solberg. We talked about the importance of this alliance and communities coming together which can be good for those in the community---those needing workers-----and projects they work together with. Yes we do follow-along—we want to see what we can help with—and perhaps bring more Sioux-like Metro alliances across our area.

On the Mock Drill—Kenzie was scheduled in this hour reacting the Mock Drill from last Friday----the one with mock tornado, a plane crash and semi vs building. Kenzie told us as she was telling the story she wants to be the first doctor in her family. We should follow along to see that it happens.

We closed with John Ball---Mr. Tree—he shared that maples and hackberry with the weather we have are slow to leaf out. Just one of the observations he shared---and as he always does—he makes want our trees to grow and to help the kids follow in his footsteps.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show ties in the state’s number one industry. Use these notes as a guide to what is in the show that Norm Anderson will post on line. Look for May 7, 2024-the 10-11 hour.
