Blog---May 6, 2025-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---started in Washington DC—where a hundred plus farmers from South Dakota, Iowa and other states were there looking at what they can do to get a farm bill, keep from being burned by the tariffs, and trade turmoil, and work with lawmakers and those in the administration that will talk to farm boys and girls from around the country.

Rob Larew---Leader of the National Farmers Union ---answered our questions---asked what those who made the trip to DC wanted to accomplish---how we were going to get the next generation to accept the torch in agriculture when there time comes---and how Farmers Union—Farm Bureau—and other farm organizations can work together.

We asked as well to visit with the National Farmers Union President before they leave the nation’s capital—and he said –as he has graciously with us—done in the past.

Later today---NFU President Larew---and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur—an Ohio Senior Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee will hold a press conference on Capitol Hilol at the House Triangle as part of the Farmers Union’s Week of Action. Still looking for a farm bill, fighting the tariffs, worried about cuts in Social Security, and farm programs---all have those in agriculture concerned in 2025. Our job is to follow along as we hope other reporters will do.

Jackie Sorensen---shared with us one more time---their Giveaway on Mother’s Day. The enters have to be in the hands of Thorson Heating and Air Conditioning by the close of business on Wednesday.

The winning entry out of more than 100 entered will win Furnace and air conditioner valued at $15,000. A separate committee makes the touch decision on the winner----and we’ll try to get one more ask and information launch in our Wednesday show. What a great price for the winner who in the past two years had gone thru some tough times ---and was selected the most needy.

Sarah Heinrich—Growing Harvest Network had the morning update. Earlier in the day our station and her Fargo Station—ran the story with President Larew –on the importance of agriculture and the trip to DC---to talk to lawmakers about taking care of our farmers who for the most part are worried for what tomorrow will bring with no farm bill, tariffs, and concerns for retirement as well.

Matt Swenson gave us the morning commodities from Swenson Commodities.

Our good friend Jeff Griffin who just won a major national award. Jeff is no strange to good work---or winning awards on his dedication –and the difference he makes for those in our communities.

Mr. Tree John Ball joined us---just a couple of days before he heads to London –I don’t think he is bringing trees to the King and Queen—but he will have good advise for those Brits –that like their trees—and Yanks that care about them. Mr. Tree is one of the most popular segments in our It’s YOUR Business and Agri Business Shows.

We closed the show with Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist. We talked about what to expect in May---the rain—who is getting the most---and what he sees well beyond a 5 day forecast.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show –provides South Dakota’s #1 industry with a show that covers a lot of what those in ag care about. We do our best to do one show that is business 9-10 and one show that is heavily agriculture 10-11.
