Blog—May 21, 2024-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business---
Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show covered ground on this Tuesday---including that of Minnesota Ag Commissioner Thom Peterson. Our good friend shared that more trouble with turkeys and chickens----and that special flu. But we talked about the legislative session---- meat classes being taught----stress still affecting those on the farm----of course it is beef month---dairy still doing it’s part----and those in ag are getting some much needed moisture.
The Commissioner---listens when his farmers talk----and for the most part----with the Timberwolves playing well there is a lot to cheer about in Minnesota.
In working with Commissioner Peterson as well as Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig---and those in agriculture in South Dakota---we get a chance to compare a lot of notes—and listen when the leaders speak. We understand that Agriculture is at the top of the economics list---and we appreciate the cooperation we get from those in the three states.
From South Dakota Casey Crabtree—who leads those in Pierre---keeps us posted on what is happening with not only the Fair’s---the Farms but what is being pushed by the two parties. We follow-along---listening closely---and hoping we can help our audience understand even more.
We’re getting closer to the Sioux Empire Fair-----and this morning after a Scott Wick warning—we visited with Julie Hammer about the planning—what lies ahead for the big fair in Sioux Falls in August---and things like Ag Appreciation Day---and getting people to understand about the birthing of the animals that always get the help from Pipestone. Releases are coming out—we follow along and thanks to Scott and Julie we are here—to help engage our audience.
Sarah Heinrich had the Growing Harvest Report from those friends and cousins of ours in Fargo----and her segment usually touches the half hour—as it did today.
Jane Stavem—from the Sioux Falls Schools Supt office talked about the Ag Fund Facts that will make quite a million dollar difference in the 2024-2025 school year. Jane is no stranger to what will happen---and we’ll be following along to see what happens and just how much difference this will be making. Yes we will follow closely. With Jane’s history in Nebraska---and even the West Coast---she creates a story-line and helps our students understand what is up---and we’ll be watching and yes helping.
Jaime Wood—SBA of South Dakota—had a chance to visit with Jane about the funding they were getting---and how it should create quite the learning experience in the coming school year. They’ll even go to lunch—and my guess is they will work tother—and when they do---we will talk with them about just how it’s going.
Jaime’s guest was Hillarey Warner—Owner and Graphic Designer of HH Design in rural Britton. Hillarey is the 2024 SBA SD Young Entrepreneur of the Year---and was presented the award during the Women’s Business Conference in Aberdeen just a few weeks ago. This too is a project we’ll be reporting back on-----because what happens in Britton and in South Dakota—is just as important as those in our part of the Eastern side of the state. We don’t have to be smart—we just ask the questions that will help our audience understand.
We took a segment from John Ball---yes Mr. Tree—it was a shorter segment than we ran in Monday’s show---but he updated the trees---the concerns John has –and what probably will come next. In asking the questions—it’s not always what I know –but who I know and what we have learned from our guests. I started interviewing in 1964----and that’s 60 years ago. I listen—I learn—and I share with each show that I do.
Justin Glisan—Iowa State Climatologist----with the Hawkeye State getting rammed over-night—gave us an update---the rain—the winds—the tornadoes---and where the crop lies. Our South Dakota State Climatologist helps us as well---Laura Edwards----and with Justin-the two of us provide some know-how—and expertise our audience is loving and expects.
Our it’s YOUR Agri Business Show---brings the #1 industry into play in South Dakota and neighboring states. It’s not about my questions—it’s about the answers our guests give us.
