Blog—May 14, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business---Show 48-22

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show  profiles the # industry in South Dakota. Agriculture. The story lines, the people, the events change—but what doesn’t change is the dedication we have to those working ag right here where we live.

We started this show with Gail Gullickson—USDA---who announced several Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) enrollment opportunities for ag producers and landowners. USDA’s Farm Service Agency is now accepting offers for both the General and Continuous CRP beginning today thru June 7th

CRP, USDA’s flagship program is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year—and for four decades they have provided financial and technical support to ag producers and landowners who place unproductive or marginal cropland under contract for 10-15 years and who agree to voluntarily convert the land to beneficial vegetive cover to improve water quality, prevent soil erosion and support wildlife habitat. Gail was most helpful marching me thru the guts of the project—and it helps the listeners spread around the state to know what they have and even how to sign-up.

Right behind Gail—Chrissy Meyer with May being American Stroke Month---the launched Mission: Lifeline Stroke in SD last October and this $5 million project is already making a big difference in our state. One of the most important factors in surviving and recovering from a stroke is getting to the right hospital that can provide the right treatment as quickly as possible.

As Chrissy pointed out –after you call 911—an estimated 800,000 people living in American who have a stroke each year getting the right care at the right time at the right facility really matters. That’s where Mission: Lifeline Stroke comes into play—building a system of care that allows for scientifically proven measures to be applied to every patient, every time.

   Thanks Chrissy for the lesson.

Nolan Clarke---and Brent Baloun—talk our audience thru with all the government financial flying up and back and over and under that is going on—how they in agriculture, in business, newly married, golden long-time married can stay ahead of the money games that are changing all the time from the White House to halls of Congress. Don’t be afraid to ask the questions---and find out what would work best for you.

Sarah Heinrich---a sister from our Sister Station—in Fargo—gives us the Growing Harvest Network.

Matt Swenson –the morning commodities--- wall street---and how you can reach Swenson Commodities—early morning to late afternoon.

Teri Schmidt---Experience Sioux Falls and of course all of South Dakota—talked us thru the fabulous luncheon at the Sioux Falls Convention Center on Tuesday--- what an event—so many people thanked---and that is what Teri and her team make it great to be experiencing Sioux Falls. The entertainment was good—the food was great----and it was another reason to smile if you are helping in this community.

    Thanks Teri and Team.

Laurie Hoffman---talked us thru---the importance of the Blood Bank. I did give blood –this time I was at the readings that worked. The last time I was a point short. Lauri reminded me that you have to eat before you give. I didn’t and almost didn’t make it. What I did find out was all the years that my blood type has been O Positive—and now A Negative. They test to find out the type of blood you have so it goes to someone that is compatible. Glad they do—and perhaps I will eat breakfast next time---and won’t be cutting it so close as acceptable or unacceptable in donating.

Glad to help—and hopefully others will give as well.

We closed the show---with an interview with SD Farmers Union Farm Family of the month—Andrew Streff –McCook County---the topic being passed the farm from the previous generation—and then getting prepared to pass to the next generation after you. Great story line---and I’m sure our listeners learned a thing or three.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---is for those in the ag community and to allow those who count on the ag community to learn even more.
