Blog—March 3, 2023—9-10---It’s YOUR Business

First Friday of March---and we had an interesting 9-10 and 10-11 shows…

Jodi Schwan—Sioux Falls Business got us started----her own event earlier this week the CEO Summit----and the Bender Event---set the calendar by it----

Jodi in our segment explains all that went on ---the trends that were important----and quite frankly I wasn’t at either—(and probably should have been) ----but there was a lot covered—a lot of questions----and both professionally done.

Both give us a look at where we are---where we have been---and what is most likely to happen in business. I salute both and enjoyed listening.

Jessie Schmidt—BBB of South Dakota----explained to us even with the Summit League Tournament---the importance of knowing where those tickets came from. Make sure you go to a reliable ticket changer—not one of those that rip-offs people and you can’t return it---and many times can’t go in to watch the game. Your money is gone---no basketball or popcorn for you-----and it doesn’t get any better with March Madness and the 16 sites around the country that are welcoming 4 teams---and the fans---and you may not know the culture in those host locations and get taken.

Make sure you see if the sellers are members of the National Association of Ticket Brokers. NATB members offer a 200% purchase guarantee on tickets. Know the refund policy and always use a credit card so you have some recourse.

Emmett Keyser—SD Game Fish and Parks kicked off the 5th year of the Nest Predator Bounty Program as part of the Governor’s Second Century Initiative –for SD youth under the age of 18 on March 1st.

Emmett also talked with us about Benton Howe who lived on a dairy farm near Sherman and loved sports, the farm life, hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved anything outdoors and enjoyed riding his dirt bike and snowmobile as well.

Last year he learned how to trap –shot his first deer and with his dad and his Grand Paul---he was very proud.

Regrettably Benton lost his life in a tragic accident doing the things he loved.

Quite the young man---and with this program—he will be remembered.

9:32---Ron Nelson---Nelson Commercial Real Estate joined us---we talked about the Bender Classic—Jodi’s program---and what so many learned this week about where we are—what we should know about commercial real estate and financials---and find ways to look to the future.

Sioux Falls is putting together more and more programs to share information—set up a learning bank---that help us. Mr. Nelson talked about that this morning—and you’ll want to listen to the Podcast to get more.

9:45---Dr. Allen Unruh talked with us this morning about an Armour, SD  friend—Kathy Larson who he knew in school 50 or so years ago. She had hip surgery—and after doing so she was having trouble of walking a 1/3 of a block. She was able to listen and watch Dr. Unruh---and what he was doing for neuropathy---and decided to give it a try. Today—she was able to share the improvement—and the hope she has to be with her grandkids---walk more—lose some weight---and enjoy life. For being “shy” she shared her story—made us all think that Dr. Unruh—as a student turned out to have gotten a pretty dog-gone good education—and his neuropathy procedures are working. We asked her to come back and join us in 3 months—to see if the success is continuing.

We closed the show with Diana Patterson—Sanford Career Opportunities—and today—it was a search for cooks. If you are in the hospital---what you eat can make a big difference on how you feel while hospitalized or just visiting.

Our It’s YOUR Business Show---is designed to cover a lot of ground on a lot of topics---and if you listen—you know it’s personal experiences—upcoming events—and things you can use.
