Blog---March 24, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

   Rob Larew—President of the National Farmers Union launched our show this morning---the topic—NFU and Coldiretti issued a joint declaration and letter to US President Trump and European Commissioner President von der Leyer on the ongoing trade dispute between the US and the European Union. 

   As President Larew explains farmers are on both sides of the Atlantic are feeling the stress and uncertainty from the threat of tariffs. Trade tensions will raise costs, disrupt supply chains and restrict markets causing farmers, consumers and businesses alike to suffer. 

   He was urging our leaders to begin negotiations as soon as possible to prevent further economic hardships on American and European farmers and communities. As Larew shared—farmers across the globe depend on a strong transatlantic partnership between the United States and the European Union. He added—the trade war put ag producers at risk and must be stopped before I causes further damage.

    We’ll continue to follow along.

    We always salute President Larew and his counterpart with the National Farm Bureau for working together. Tomorrow—the SD Farm Bureau will have their show 10-11—that was taped before they went to DC. Krystal Smit---has arranged for us to talk to one of those in DC from South Dakota Farm Bureau—during our 9-10 show.

    Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank—did his Monday visit talking about planning for the farmers, businesses, senior citizens worried about their Social Security---and newly married couples. Planning is important for all of them—and we appreciate being able to talk with Plains Commerce twice a week about the planning they can and really should do.

    Sarah Heinrich—had the Growing Harvest Network—she is from our Midwest Communication Fargo Station KFGO—and we appreciate what she brings to the microphone and our business table.

    Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities---gave us the first look this week of the commodities---and even the Big Board on Wall Street.

    April 3-5---is the State FFA Convention in Brookings---and we have been talking to those that are making a difference that will be a part of the event. Today it was Daphene White---we talked about her livestock, career development, and what she brings to FFA from Rapid City. Very smart, talented FFA member and we’ll follow along next week.

   Tony Trusell talked to us about Mentorship---with SCORE. 

   He explained what SCORE is in involved with—what is mentorship, why small businesses are important---and how he continues to help. He explained how our listeners can get connected to be a mentor—or just get important information.

   Rock Nelson brought us the Rock Report---from Harrisburg---nope not that Harrisburg—but Pennsylvania -----Martin Brill—has been working for a number of years ---

   Martin is the Coordinator at the Ag Center of Excellence—and we learned about the history of the organization, the services they provide—Thailand and Morocco are included the 1 centers---we learned about private sector that provides the services----.

    Rock Nelson is the Senior International Trade Specialist for the State of South Dakota—with the South Dakota Small Business Development Center. 

    John Ball—Mr. Tree joined us with proof the students were working pruning flowers and trees last Friday. Mr. Tree was talking about why the do what they do---and why this is the time of year---to be engaged as the temperatures are getting warmer.

    As a part of Iowa Ag Appreciation Week----Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist joined us. He saluted his state—the Ag Secretary –Mike Naig who will join us on Wednesday---and what to expect in the days ahead as we close out the month of March. Climatologist Glisin—will be out of the office for the week—but he promises to join us on Friday-----in California.
