 Blog---March 12, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show including lots of very important story-lines and breaking news that made show 47-55 worth remembering.

An old friend of ours Steve Haugaard shared plenty of history making discussions from Canton in Lincoln County Tuesday night.

In essence the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission was fine tuning the Ordinance will be headed back to the County Commissioners.

He also shared that his daughter will be joining his law firm---and that will help as they work the Pipeline Discussion—and tackle very important issues for Lincoln County.

The discussion was very important to the County---and while it was Lincoln County on this night----other counties should be going thru some of these same talks looking at what’s best for tomorrow.

We talked as well about issues still before the House and Senate in the final days of the 2025 Legislative Session. Steve has always been plugged in---and I know when I ask the questions that matter to the public---that he will do his best to make sure the public will get what’s happening thru our show.

We’ll work on that in future discussions----and maybe we’ll talk as often as necessary or at least once a month.

From Pierre we talked with Will Mortenson—the Pierre voice that raised his hand to help us learn what was happening day to day thru the 40 day session.

This morning we talked about the books---the language—what works—plus what else is before the Legislature. More than one issue—but Mr. Mortenson—gives us a report—I ask questions to help the audience understand---and as the session closes this week---we’ll try to work in such a way that those who listen to House Member Mortenson---will get an answer they can listen to –learn from—and follow-along.

Brent Baloun---Plains Commerce Bank—helps us understand the need to ask questions and talk with THE PLANNERS at PLAINS. With all the concerns right now on cut-backs, government support that may dry up----the Planners can and really need to be engaged. With 9 bank locations –the question of tariffs—falling stock markets----and uncertainty from both Republicans and Democrats---you need the support.

Twice a week we are here to answer questions with our It’s YOUR Business Show---those that we need Plains to weigh in on—they always do. Thank you.

Sarah Heinrich provided the Growing Harvest Network from KFGO in Fargo---thanks Sarah. Matt Swenson—Swenson Commodities gives us the half hour update on the markets---and how to get information when he’s not talking directly from It’s YOUR Agri Business.

One of the key players for us is Nathan Sanderson---who heads up the SD Retailers Association. We have know him for a long time and he joins the list of those sources we can tap to get updates—and will be scheduling him at least once a month in the future. We wanted to k ow about what he saw with the legislative session---what retailers are seeing in the first 3 months of 2025.

We are always looking at the anticipation of the Retailers Association –what they are seeing-and what those who rely on the Retailers should be wanting.

Casey Crabtree joined us on this day---with reports on the final two days of the legislative session---where are we—what do we still need and how do those South Dakotans know what they have done—and what they still have to do. We thank this Madison voice-with helping us during this 40 day session.

Next week is officially Ag Week nationwide-we will be featuring some of those that service ag from their businesses----we have South Dakota Farmers Union Show on Tuesday 10-11---which will include what happened at the National Convention in Oklahoma City. In this show we shared the SD President Doug Sombke’s take on the National Conference—it had some frustrations---and he’s a lot of tired of no farm bill. Rob Larue will join us on Friday to talk about the 3 day OKC event---and how we get the most for those in Agriculture. SD Farm Bureau will join us to talk as well—what they see---and how farmers get what they need---including that FARM BILL.

Sports regular on our show—John Gaskins is in Rapid City for the State Tournament this weekend—I believe he does the men next weekend.

SD State Climatologist Laura Edwards –shared where we are—moisture wise—what she sees for the weekend---and how we are doing moisture wise in 2025.
