Blog—June 27, 2023—9-10—It’s YOUR Business---
Our Tuesday It’s YOUR Business Show----9-10---twice a month gets to be creative with guests---and opportunities.
The second Tuesday of the month has Tim Ness—Ness Tax and Bookkeeping---the third Tuesday---has Scott Lawrence with the Leader of the Band.
We like to talk the importance and growth of our small communities---even when the legislature isn’t meeting---we get updates----and you name it---the show guests---get their chance to push how creative their projects are---and we’re proud to have them.
This morning for instance----Scott Wick---who has been working the Sioux Empire Fair—and Farm Shows----got to tell us what they are planning for the August Fair---updating with acts—how they are reaching the public with music---ag appreciation day, and a few more events that bring the family in.
What about the Fair Grounds---some talk about the future---are we losing opportunities to other cities with Ag---entertainment----is it getting to be the same old stuff. Scott wasn’t afraid to talk---and you’ll want to go back and listen to see where we are headed—and just why you should attend. The Fairs across South Dakota—also help with SD State Fair. Good information---and you get updated.
Act II at 9:17 or so—Jesse Fonkert---has been building the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance. They are up to 16 communities---and in our discussion –we always talk about how important it is Sioux Falls to be able to count on these surrounding communities—for workers and partners----it is amazing what happens when a Sioux Falls treats these towns as being just as important as what is happening in their community. This Sioux Metro Growth Alliance is building---we need it----and we enjoy having Jesse update---share a new coffee tradition in Harrisburg----and in McCook County---what is happening by letting them know just how important they are.
Stop #3-----a first—in the news with Tom Rooney in our Radio News Department is Southeast Tech being chosen by the Amazon Career Choice Program---as the first SD 2 year partner. SE Tech President Robert Griggs is excited---shared that their entire academic catalog is open to hourly employees and it’s open to hourly employees.
Amazon’s Career Choice program is a benefit that empowers employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. The company is investing $1.2 billion to upskill more than 300,000 employees by 2025—to help move them into high-paying, in demand jobs.
Casey Crabtree---who has helped us with the Legislative comings and goings this year—updated some summer meetings---what was being pushed. He too talked about the Amazon Career Choice Program---saying it adds to what is already being done with the Build Dakota Scholarship Program. The dollars involved there at “the WOW FACTOR”. Seven other states are looking at the South Dakota Model. The industry partners including Dana Dykhouse at First Premier Bank---make this State a location to not only begin in 3 years—but stay and build for the future.
Lawmaker Crabtree also shared a little more about the cyber security work that is being built---which is a step ahead for our state and the businesses that get involved.
Lawmaker Crabtree is headed for a visit to the US-Texas Border---lots of talk about what is going on there----we’ll check with him----and I’ll get to use my 4 year history along the Border—with El Paso-Juarez---and a recent visit I made—to see what he comes back with. Such be fun—and good for the listeners and the State of South Dakota.
Our It’s YOUR Business Show—includes a lot of growth—creativity---and stuff our audience will want to know. It’s people like Mr. Crabtree –that helps us tell the story 4 days a week----
