Blog—June 11, 2024-10-11—SD Farmers Union Show
Full house in the studio—for our SD Farmers Union Show. Wayne Soren---long-time leader of SDFU and Larry Birgen—District 1 President with Shelby Landmark—a Communication Specialist---that work hard to bring into focus the oldest Farm Organization Show in South Dakota.
Shelby’s idea was a cute one----Talk “Father’s Day” and families. Larry, Wayne and yes Bill talk about Father’s Day----but Shelby had her own take that made for an interesting discussion----truly a Family like show. You’ll want to listen to what was said in the podcast---that is available to judge for yourself.
President Birgen is President of District 1—and he helped give a history of the SDFU Youth Camps. That is an area that is perhaps the most important thing this group does. Working with those in the grand-pa---ma-pa----and then the kids. We followed along and took notes. 90 years for the SDFU Youth Camps.
Next up---Chase Melius---who was in Storm Mountain---yes West River---for a State Camp. He was able to share why it was important—how many were there and what it does for Farmers Union---something I’ve been helping with for 11 years I have truly enjoyed.
Our trip for a Farm Family was to Winner—we talked with Heath & Cody Moore—their boys Rowdy and Roper. I had a chance to say oh wow while I’m doing the interview on Monday---and believe it or not Shelby-Wayne-and Larry were doing the same. The Farm Family lets us share how families can work together—why it is so special----and those little intangibles that stick with us. That is perhaps what I enjoy most—when I’m talking and interviewing a family---let them shine—let them explains what they are doing---and how they are doing it together. OH WOW!! Maybe having done 5,000 TV Newscasts and how more than 4500 radio shows has helped me bring out what they have inside them---OH WOW??
We talked with Marty Bertsch—FSA District Director—he talked abut the Crop Progress---he shared that the upcoming acreage is due July 15rh.
Having grown up on a farm in Iowa---I got a feel about the crop being he gravy train for the family-and Marty did a good job making sure your audience knew what was going on.
Shelby decided to go it alone----and we wish her well with the newest SDFU Podcast and Producer Connection. It will be emailed to members—and shares national, sate and legislative updates. Should be interesting.
Our SD Farmers Union Show is special----it’s about farmers that I have met and work with. They tell the stories—and I try to help them communicate.
Listen live to the show at 1320, 105.1, 107.9—use the KELO App—Streaming on line of just ask ALEXA.
