Blog---July 25, 2025—9-10—It’s YOUR Business

Our It’s YOUR Business Friday—show which feels almost like family Friday facts is pretty much that.

Jodi Schwan—Sioux Falls Business---shares what she has been reporting on for the week. This week—she talked about Luxury Market, a place to buy High-end Furniture, A Popular Food Truck returning to duty, and Sanford Health Named to a TOP SLOT in the 150 best places to work.

Jessie Schmidt—BBB of South Dakota—zeroed in on Romance Scams. One of the stories she shared---was a woman scammed out of $200,000 by a man who obviously was a good talked, a liar, and someone that knew what to say to grab the heart of this woman that was obviously lonely.

Romance Scams---we hear more and more about---and we can only hope that you have to be a “non-believer” to keep from falling---and sending lots of money to help someone you may never meet. More and more of these scams and Jessie and I talk about this at least a dozen times a year---and it always seem to be the same sham---somebody shows an interest in somebody---never sees them--- but they take lots and lots of money.

The lesson Jessie would share is----don’t fall for this lonely scam, need money scenario or I can’t come see you because I’m traveling here, there, and everywhere. If you have to call the BBB and Jessie before you send money---DO IT. Don’t fall and be short several hundred thousand dollars.

Another Schmidt—Teri Schmidt—Experience Sioux Falls---helps us promote and serve as suggesters for events coming up in our town.

Teri shared that there were 2 –very successful music festivals in Sioux Falls. Our residents made others feel welcome---suggested they enjoy and they did. What happened with the festivals were a large room tax received increased----we want people to go to a community like Sioux Falls that they can enjoy. You never know when you make people feel welcome—the kind of dividends that it will pay. This was one to make friends and get them to come back.

Teri shared that they events this weekend include a Fastpitch Softball Tournament and the Ace Car Show.

Kip Rounds---South Dakota Game Fish and Parks---talked to us about the upcoming Hunting Season. It something hat we know the communities, the businesses and virtually all of us count on---and it truly is the best way to encourage people to come back and enjoy our friendly, but important ways to enjoy life. As the hunting season approaches we’ll keep you—our listeners up-to-date.
