Blog—July 24, 2023-10-11—It’s YOUR Ag Business

It’s perhaps the biggest week of the year from Darren Hefty and family---more than just a farmers Friday---but it’s the big field day---people come to Baltic from other countries---the Hefty’s speak to the consumers—talk to the young farmers just getting started---and will see –8-10 or 12,000 people.

We started the Ag Week with Darren---as those attending listen they learn about high yield farmers from across the country speaking and sharing knowledge---there will be a tour of research plots, ride and drive the latest equipment---and yes what’s new in precision ag.

We enjoy working with the Hefty’s—promoting what they are doing—whether it be National radio—Sirius 147, television and yes our show too. They are special and people will tell you that almost anyplace you go.

Yes there is a tour of the research plots---you can ride and drive the latest equipment—and education of what’s new in precision agriculture.

We’ll talk more about that this week.

Another event or two this week---in Pierre—and in Ft Dodge Iowa----carbon capture discussions----we’re following thru the week----and we’ll do more tomorrow---as well.

We thank Common Joe for answering our questions today---tomorrow we’ll talk SDFU and the other carbon company. It will be in the 9-10 hour---with SD Farm Bureau—doing their monthly show in the 10:00.

We visited this morning with Mike Barber—part of the Marsh McClennan Team----what they are doing—the road trips they are making –how they are keeping people sleeping nights.

Nolan Clarke—Plains Commerce Bank---talked about the planning they are doing----whether it be agriculture, business or family needs. They started in Hoven, South Dakota—and we are always there to discuss how they do what they are doing----and it gives other listeners a chance to understand—more what they do and how long they have been doing it.

Sarah Heinrich—KFGO Fargo—is the Growing Harvest Network insert into our show. Good stuff—we like to mix and match---and you never know what she is going to share—but appreciate it after she does.

Matt Swenson---Swenson Commodities—has the up-to-the-minute market numbers. We know that is good stuff—well appreciated –and we learn a little something every day.

We had a chance to promote Bacon Buddies in Iowa. Edan Bomgaars—shared the Sioux County, Iowa event---the 10 teams that competed----and why that is such a big deal. Dwight Mogler—always the Lyons County Ag Correspondent –took good care of us today---as we continue to enjoy outstanding conversations with our Iowa neighbors.

Danita Murray—SD Corn talked to us last week from Washington DC---it was a fly-in of sorts and a chance to visit with our SD Congressional delegation and other leaders. Danita—is a veteran of the hill----and she knows how to inform us on what is going on—and to prod those in DC.

Brooke Hendrickx---did as she always does well---gave us more to think about with the Sioux Empire Fair---just days away. Ag Appreciation Day—is the big event—and we promise to promote to thank those in agriculture.

We appreciate all she does for us---and we’ll ask her again for updates this week.

Rock Nelson—as he does on Monday—brought us the Rock Report. Today a visit with Dakota Tschetter—VP/Co-owner of Lankota Inc—in Huron.

Lankota manufactures and sells aftermarket agricultural parts----all of the products are manufactured, packaged and shipped out of Huron. Many of those at Lankota—fit right in they come from “Ag” Backgrounds.

Jaime Wood—SBA of South Dakota—shared an online webinar for Indigenous small business owners. It is 9-3 Tuesday. Join the Sister Sky Inc. E-Learning center to receive 8 modules of small business training materials. Workshops are free—register at sba.gov/southdakota.

Next week SBA is parting up with the General Services ADMIN (GSA) for a small business webinar—that focuses on -Understanding the GSA Schedules Program.

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show –does understand that AG is the #1 Industry in South Dakota---we treated it that way—and includes story lines from Iowa, Minnesota-Nebraska, North Dakota and our home state of South Dakota. We are in this together.
