Blog—July 21, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

Our It’s YOUR Agri Business Show---launched with the appointment of Lincoln County Commissioner Jim Schmidt—to part of the South Dakota Board of Economic Development.

The Governor Larry Rhoden--said it boldly---"South Dakota relies on strong leaders like Jim Schmidt—who dedicated his life to his service and leaving things a better than they found them situation.”

The Lincoln County Commissioner in an interview with It’s YOUR Agri Business talked about the position---why the Board of Economic Development will help him and the other board members able to keep South Dakota Open for Opportunity.

Jim has served as President of the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, President of the Children’s Home Society—Director of the Sioux Empire Housing Partnership and yes Executive VP for the American Cancer Society in the Dakotas.

Position will be well serviced---and we will continue to feature Mr. Schmidt—with Mr. Auction—Chuck Sutton on the 1st Monday of each month in the 10-11 show.

Nolan Clarke---and Brent Baloun are the Planners—Plains Commerce Bank---we had a chance to visit with Mr. Clarke today—about upcoming farm shows----and how they are helping those that are questioning what the heck is happening in DC. People need to make plans and we know that being willing to question Baloun-Clarke and others helps us understand what is important and what we all can do about the political winds that are blowing—left-right-but strong.

Matt Swenson---provided the morning Swenson Commodity Update. The grain-the meat---the energy and the big Board on Wall Street---

Jessie Fonkert—joined the Rock Report. Jessie—like me has lived a number of years in Hartford----he’s just back from a trade mission---and getting ready to go on another.

Purpose of court is to explain South Dakota’s Trade Purpose---missions to London and Ireland---and yes it is a trade mission---and yes Jessie has the history to get things done.

One of the key stories we are doing this week is that South Dakota Producers are growing their own vegetables that you see at Farmers Markets and they are also growing flowers.

The event on Friday is free and will allow folks to visit a real flower farm that grows beautiful flowers in Alpine. This morning thanks to the work of 605 Petals and Pines---some beautiful flowers were delivered to my desk---marking the growing flowers salute later in the week in Alpine. My job is to talk about the event-promoting the flowers in South Dakota---and keep them alive until my wife can get back from near Atlantic, Iowa this week—visiting with her sister Jean. Yes we will talk flowers this week---and promote the beauty that goes with them—and Eden Acres near Alpine.

Mr. Tree joined us this morning-----he had more bug stops ---and he updated us about what they are –what we need to know----how his students are learning the trees of the story---and how people have fun with John Ball—Mr. Tree----appearing on our It’s YOUR Business and Agri Business Show---and making us feel smarter and right at home. We learned today not fertilize----the trees and I’m sure flowers—unless you want to lose them and then go find new ones.

Listen live to the show –It’s YOUR Agri Business---10-11---as we approach 5,000 informative radio shows in just a few weeks.

Norm Anderson posts the Podcast of the show---my job is to schedule the guest, prep them and me to ask and answer the questions and help our audience learn a third or 10 each day from the guests who are part of our shows.
