Blog—July 18, 2025—10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business
Darren Hefty—AG PHD started our 10-11—it’s YOUR Agri Business Show sharing an event he has that will draw 10,000 at the end of the month on their Baltic property. Kids—adults---people from South Dakota-a number of states and yes even around the Globe.
It’s on the 31st.
Mr. Hefty updated the crops—what they are seeing with the severe weather earlier in the week—and yes some downright hot conditions in the first 18 days of July.
We’ll talk more with him for the event at the end of the month and expect to have Darren with us for the Sioux Empire Fair—where we bring him---Mayor Paul TenHaken—and others to answer questions from those in the Fairgrounds during our Hour Long Show.
We talked with Casey Crabtree who has spent a lot of time with us in the last few weeks –working with the not only legislative and national events from DC---but the Lake Madison—and getting laws changed on who can run water craft---and the training they need.
Right now the pinch is on from Washington DC with what can be spent—even a few bucks on promoting Game Fish and Parks—had leaders in South Dakota—not being able to count on help to entice businesses to get involved with Game Fish and Parks promotions for hunting the pheasants—and other creatures—as well as the fishing that is a big deal in this state. Casey will help us and others—get those in our state—or coming to our state involved in taking advance of what we have outdoors---and make it a part of the game.
We talked to the Provost and Vice President for the South Dakota Board of Regents---they are looking how to best keep your students affordability in mind---what is the best core infrastructure academics---- --and where all of this is going.
In addition the importance of advance academics---and how it will all fit together—with what our neighboring states are doing.
Sarah Heinrich gave us the Growing Harvest Network—from KFGO in Fargo—then we visited with Alla Kureninova—yes she has been with us from almost 4 years—talking about where she came from---in Ukraine—how the rest of the family arrived as well. Alla has helped us understand the labor skills that Ukrainians have---some are in Watertown---and in fact- Kristi Noem’s people are already looking at anyone who they can ship out of the USA –to give one more that they forced to leave. Next week we’ll talk with the hard working Ukrainian on our show---and see what we can do. Kristi---if you have a hard work that one of our towns like Watertown is bragging about—you have no business sending her on the road. If you do—hope those in South Dakota will remind you that we still expect you to respect our state as much as who’s occupying the White House right now.
Brenda Dreyer---talked with us---about a Cut Flower Farm Tour with stop in Alpena next week then a pumpkin patch in Woonsocket.
South Dakota Specialty Producers Association and South Dakota State University are teaming p for the event. We will talk on Monday and Wednesday.
Justin Glisin---Iowa State Climatologist did a wrap for us to close the week—looking at the moisture, the temperatures and what we might expect in the weeks ahead.
