In our Friday show---we like to bring our Ukrainian Family in South Dakota to the table and the phone to talk about what they are concerned with—what they are hearing from Ukraine-----and just how they are getting along here---

-------------Alla------------good morning---

---the week that was

---biggest concerns----

Many many strikes on ukrainian cities this past week, as always. But something new - nuclear-capable hypersonic missile struck western ukraine, not far from NATO border.

This is only a second time that Russia has used such a missile, no nuclear warhead on it, but still sends a message. Ukraine claims it was done to intimidate European leaders from supporting Ukraine. Russia says it's a payback for trying to attack Putin's residence, which ukraine and US deny happened. This comes only a day after European leaders pledges more support and securities to Ukraine to support peace.

Many ukrainians are still in ukraine. While about 1 million of people in US claim Ukrainian ancestry, only about 180,000 came to US since the start of the full invasion of ukraine. Ukrainians comprise only about 1% of the total immigrant population in US. Many of them are facing difficulties right now, not because they entered illegally, but because the legal pathways are stuck in the back logged system. When their paperwork is not processed on time, they lose their ability to legally work, losing the ability to provide for their families. Many good ukrainians will leave our country and our communities if there isn't a solution put in place to extend their work authorization and let them continue providing for themselves and their families, and our communities. If you have it in your heart to reach out to some of our leaders, please ask that Ukrainians receive another term of temporary protective status, and those in good standing can receive automatic extentions for their work authorisations.
