The South Dakota Farmers Union Show ---the first one for 2024---fell on the first day of the South Dakota Legislative Session.
Doug Sombke—President—SD Farmers Union shared his visit to Pierre on Monday—and what lawmakers were talking about. Important issue –regardless of the side you are on is the Pipeline Issue---Property Rights being discussed---and there was talk about the SD 1st Partnership.
Deep divisions in South Dakota---and our job is to cover---and allow—and report where we are and where are at stake.
We talked with Mitch Richter---who covers SDFU day-in-day out in the Legislature—he gave some insights this morning to the Governor’s Speech---the mood he was seeing at the Capital--- and in essence let the journey begin.
Shelby Landmark---co-hosted the show with me today---she was in Huron-where there is much less snow than what we have in Sioux Falls-she helped us set up the guests---do the interviews—and make sure we were looking back at events that happened and put on the calendar events that will be happening.

Black Hills Stock Show—January 26th-February 3rd---
We talked this morning with Corbitt Wall---DV Auction –the Packers Payback---Watertown Farm Show February 7th, Women in Blue Jeans February 23-24 in Mitchell.
10:13---we talked with Amanda Goens—about the Tri State Producers Conference. It was a chance for us to learn what happened----and why this family---Amanda and Jared—learned planning for the future. It was an interesting conversation and helped us to know that there are events out there that can bring people together and get them planning for the future.
Grady Gullickson—who received the SDFU Scholarship shared ---his story was interesting ---he thanked properly Farmers Union for helping him get the education---and go forward in the future. Interesting story---and we know his family---and they will keep us informed as we track agriculture in South Dakota.
We talked as well with Mr. Tree—John Ball---he is a life learning expert on our trees—and he shares with us in this show ---what is it important---emerald ask borer is there and we always look for how we are doing----and what he is doing sharing SD ideas all over the country.
Our Farmers Union Show---will be live in Pierre for Farmers Union day at the capital in February---and our March Show will be in Scottsdale, Arizona at the National Farmers Union event. I’m looking forward to seeing all those I have seen in past years---and as Shelby mentioned this morning---you have a very nice award you are picking up Nationwide.
