   And you had a nice set up line to continue---“Lots of downtown news this week, New restaurants open at Cherapa, Harvest building nearly full and Landscape Garden Centers EXPANDS Downtown----

 Technology Companies are eyeing South Dakota for large data centers tied to artificial intelligence, and state regulators are already warning those facilities can consume enormous amounts of electricity, KELO-AM reported in November. South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chair Chris Nelson told KELO-AM that companies looking here share concerns about how their demand could affect electric rates for everyone else, and that data center proposals have been discussed in Minnehaha, Deuel, and McPherson counties.

This isn’t a distant, coastal problem. It’s an electricity problem, and in South Dakota, electricity is personal.
