Jessie Schmidt---BBB---December is Identity Awareness Month---and we’ll have tips to spot that type of scam.
Jessie always does that –and we appreciate it
Among her tips---look for unexplained withdrawals, charges and accounts. Review your bank account and credit card statements regularly if not more. Look for unfamiliar charges, accounts or withdrawals. Scammers have changed address associated with your bank account of credit card. Debt collectors may call you about debts that aren’t yours. You can set up automatic alerts on your accounts.
Check your credit reports regularly for unauthorized inquiries and accounts—you do have the right to check your credit report for free with each of the three major credit bureaus at Annual Credit Report.com.
If you believe you are a victim of identity theft—it is essential to act quickly—Contact your local law enforcement and visit identitytheft.gov.
Jessie suggested sharing your experience with related scams on BBB Scam Tracker.
