Blog---August 14, 2023-10-11—It’s YOUR Agri Business

    Mr. Auctioneer Chuck Sutton---and Lincoln County’s Jim Schmidt---discussed the latest farm auction news----and even Executive Board of Directors for the County Commissioners in South Dakota meeting in Chamberlain last week.

    Questions always surround the auctions—the prices---for farm usage or housing or commercial sites----interesting and 8-15 acres and 10-18 acres making quite the notch in recent weeks from Dell Rapids and even Moody County.

    Estates discussed---pipelines---and what lies ahead----part of the discussion. Both Sutton and Schmidt---have been doing this a long time---and when we ask a question it does make quite the difference.

     Mr. Lincoln County –talked about the purpose of the meeting in Chamberlain---was to look for additional funding for counties. Several options were explored –a couple that were finalized was to fund Veteran Services Officers, provide funds for indigent defense and adjusting county levee’s.

     A good discussion---and these two guys get it---and we try to ask—and share with you the audience once a month.

     Julie Hammer—Sioux Empire Fair along with Scott Wick kept us busy last week. Some rain-a fabulous Ag Appreciation Day----and a show that brought a lot of people together in the month of August. We appreciated their help---their volunteers and certainly the help of Sylvia Walters and the birth of new animals.

      We were there—caring about agriculture—and helping the communication—with Julie and Scott—the Mayor, the Lt Governor, Darren Hefty AG PHD—and Jim Woster. Even the Governor gave us a thank you as we met her standing in line after the show.

      Nolan Clarke—Plains Commerce Bank shared the busy schedule they will have this week. The Dakota Farm Fest—Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday in Mitchell. We’ll be there 9-11 on Tuesday and Wednesday—many talking about the Farm Fest—what is important—and what makes such a difference for us to be in the Reaves Building Center.

     Sarah Heinrich—had the KFGO Growing Harvest Network---Matt Swenson the Swenson morning commodities and stocks.

     We talked to both Danita Murray—SD Corn and Jerry Schmitz—SD Soybeans. They will be together at the Dakota Fest—and will join us for our show Tuesday and Wednesday. Lots to talk about—not only working together but what the 2023—crops are doing or not doing.

     Gerri Eide—FFA of South Dakota—was getting us ready for the Dakota Fest and not too far away the SD State Fair. We will talk to some of the officers---Gerri and others---and as they approach the start of the school year they expect 5600 FFA Members.

    Bryson Patterson—SBA of South Dakota---shared disaster loan changes---and limits----droughts ---and why it is so important for them to be at Dakota Fest. Yes they will keep us posted as well.

    The Rock Report---talked with Fred Bachner—Publisher of IBNessmag.com an International Trade magazine---that is dedicated to small and median exporting businesses that are primarily in the Heartland from Arkansas and Oklahoma to the Dakotas, Iowa and Wisconsin.

     He serves on the Mid-America District Export Council, International Trade Council of Kansas City and was a cleared advisor to the US Trade Rep for SME’s on trade agreements.
